Re: what grinds my gears

What bothers me about COD2 is this:
IW said that this game won't be linear, you would get choices on how to complete missions and such.
But choosing in what order you plant bombs doesn't make it non-linear...

or a map editor so you can dabble yourself--- when i bought unreal a few years ago i was impressed that they included a map-editor, and a Upaint program for making skins--- and a trial/novice version of Maya--- with tutorials (on using Maya) its kind of in-depth--- so now even the most noobiest person could use these programs to create his own stuff/maps-- it just integrated the consumer into the creation process-- really cool i think... now when i playUT04-- none of the maps played are stock maps-- tey are all created by clan mappers and individuals that took the time to learn the software--which wasnt too dang hard---some guys have made maps that were sheer artwork to me-- now atari has mapping competitions with great payoffs-- id love to see CoD go in this direction--- but im not holding my breath... thanks for hearing my rant!!

All those things can or will be added in the following...
- just an excuse for a CoD2 extension
- just get someone to mod, or make a mod with everything you want...

Xanithon

yeah i think ur right ive being opening up the iwds and theres alot of sound files and other files that arent being used atall like the we need a bazooka up here now file theses no bazooka in the game or the fg42 fire sound and icon

on the plus side punkbuster is comming out for cod2
gfm beta is comming out soon
downside no mission editor out yet-this makes me sad:bawl:

HAd to register after reading this post just to mention something. I've come from being a avid player of Black Hawk Down to playing CoD2. I have tried BF2, JO and CSS. Both BF2 and JO are ruined by so much emphasis on vehicles which distracts from the infantry. The thing I love most about this game so far is the lack of tanks, jeeps, motorbikes or any other gimmick. Sure the game needs tweaks but vehicles is not the way forward in my opinion.

Good posts by the way people.
