If you want to like this game, you have to look at it from a different perspective. This is not COD2:UO, this is COD2. GM made UO. If I wanted to play UO I would play UO. If you have UO, then you must have liked COD. (Unless you really did not like it and only got UO for the vehicles, which I doubt. Be honest now)

I think that a lot more people would like this game if UO never came out.

I really didn't play CoD online very much, I did not have a cable modem which made online games horrible. I started to play CoDUO because I got a cable modem.

I like CoD2, the problem for most people is that they are comparing it to CoD1 and UO, which are different games. I like much of what was done in COD2. I just liked some of the things that UO had.

Really, let's just accept the game for what it is and see what happens in the future!

Amen.

I have both CoD1 and UO, i still might get CoD2, but since UO I hated it because of the tanks I'm not sure if the stationary artillery was in CoD, but it was good. Tanks were just a gimmick IMHO. I used to play cod1 with my brothers and our friends, but once I got UO it just wasnt fun anymore. I couldn't find anything to remove the tanks, not that I tried very hard, but it really hurts (at least) the 2-4 player gameplay when what used to be decent strategy with weapon choices turns into a rush to the biggest tank. Whoever gets there first, wins.

Sure, I could've changed to maps that don't have vehicles, but it's no fun when you beat them a couple of times (literally HS them 2x without dying) and they go straight back to voting for the tank maps.

NO tanks = good gameplay. If you want to use tanks and vehicles, get battlefield 2. CoD is the one WW2 shooter that I could cope with repeatedly, until the vehicles came. MoHAA just sucked IMO and there were plenty of other games that had similar styles of play.

Yeah, what Beard said.

CoD was a infantry game and that's what IW intended it to be. Gray Matter made it even more arcade-ish. If you want vehicle combat, go buy BF2. CoD2 is an infantry game.

My Opinion is that if you want to play a tank game get a tank game, or go play BF2. I hate being in a nice rifle or infantry weapon fight and then have some camping retard in a tank spam a few rounds into the fight and destroy the fun with some sorry lobbed shots. That is just my opinion though.

"I must admit that it's strange that there has not been a sprint or nade-cook feature implemented, though this can and will soon be remedied by the various mods that will doubtless come into production."

If you check out FKMOD.COM you'll see that they have implimented a sprint mode (f)key...along with all the other alterations that in essence convert COD2 into COD1(2)....and they have an excellent 60 man lag free TDM server.

Check it out

As far as tanks go, a single tank per side on a couple maps would be ok, but to have 3-4 per side would just cause another lagfest..and we all know what that's like....

I believe Tanks were the best part of COD1. I never lagged, I have cable modem, and my ping was also very good, I never played at more than 90 ping. Blowing tank up was very easy, i never had problem. I wish COD2 had tank.

vehicles had their ups and downs. There were the occasional abusers of them, and it was a rush for the biggest tank. Perhaps if something like a grenade or two under a tank could kill them it would be better. Besides, it would be interesting to have tanks in maps like Carentan sometimes
