Hi all,

Just an idea, can anyone remember the Star Trek TNG episode entitled, "Where No One Has Gone Before"? I know that the Traveller was responsible for the Enterprise excellerating to incredible warp speed, but in my opinion, the Enterprise's hull must have been able to take the extra speed, otherwise it would have flown apart. I have always wondered why Starfleet never managed or tried to find a way of designing a new prototype ship where its warp core and warp engines had been heavily upgraded to provide this new top speed, though under full helm control. I.e., once the helm officer had inputted the destination, as soon as the ship reached it, the engines would be automatically reversed by an intelligent computer controlled AI system. This would prevent the prototype ship from overshooting its destination. Just think what new possibilities this would offer Starfleet.

But remember, travelling to "Hyper-Warp Speeds" required the thought energy of the Traveller. No Matter/Antimatter reaction in the Universe could provide enough power to hit those kinds of speeds. I think the only way to accelerate to those velocities again, is with the help of a superbeing's power.
