Re: Need Help with Biranu Station Mission I don't have fraps, I'm just gonna take a break and relax before I destroy my computer lol. Tomorrow I'll give the next mission another shot when my head is clear. |
Re: Need Help with Biranu Station Mission Excellent idea! I have to admit; this game annoyed the hell out of me too couple of times. My computer is still in one piece, though. Altough that sledge hammer could still come in handy. :p |
Re: Need Help with Biranu Station Mission Heh, it looks like you should play through the First Officer level first. From the looks of it, you won't stand a chance in the upcoming missions, specifically in missions where the odds are against you. Not to sound too harsh though. :) Here's what I usually do when I fight good 'ol captain MacCray. If you haven't changed to quantums yet and are still on photons, fire them off and quickly change to the quantums. It's a simulation so you won't be losing any real quantums. Note: I usually fire my torps at a distance of 30 or less. Even at 30, I change my spread to dual or quad to guarantee a hit. 20 is the best distance to fire your torps. Anyways, I like to do things differently. I will constantly target his torpedoes since quantums are devastating. Do your best to destroy all of his torpedoes. Once this is done, he'll probably remark on your nice shot. Next, target his shield generator, warp core, or phasers. When he remarks that he has recorded simulated hull breaches, then you're almost there. Anyways, after this, the Klingons will come in. If you're looking for a quick win, which I always pick since I hate losing, I will target the Rankuf. Destroying the Rankuf will automatically end the mission in victory. If you target the other bird of prey, Draxon will simply say the captain is inexperienced whilst he resumes firing. Anyways, hope this helps. Once you're done with this mission, you'll have even more fun in the nebula. |
Re: Need Help with Biranu Station Mission I successfully defeated the klingons and skipped the fight with the federation captain :) I have a question about general tactics though, do you guys always use low phaser fire or do you start with full and then switch to low? |
Re: Need Help with Biranu Station Mission I always use full intensity unless I want to disable some system on the enemy ship without causing too much hull damage. For example; that mission you already passed where you have to disable Warp Engines on a Ferengi Marauder. I fired Phasers at full intensity along with Torpedos until I took down Marauder's aft shield. Then, I switched Phasers to low intensity and put a hold on Torpedos to avoid damaging the Marauder too much. Later in the game, you will have to stop Klingon Vor'cha from ramming Romulan Warbird by disableing it's Impulse Engines. Again, low intensity Phaser setting is recommended. |
Re: Need Help with Biranu Station Mission I only ever use high intensity. I never use tractor beam either. |
Re: Need Help with Biranu Station Mission It's just not a fun campaign, how many times did the enterprise fight like 2-3 warbirds alone? Every mission is a combat mission, kinda ruins the single player for me completely. Can't wait till STO comes out cuz I don't plan on having to kill something every mission. When do I get to encounter species to negoatiate with or a mystery to solve? |
Re: Need Help with Biranu Station Mission Bridge Commander is pretty much all about fighting. There are some missions where you have to look for something, but the fight is inevitable sooner or later. For example; in one mission you have to hide in the asteroid field, shut down your weapons, shields and engines to decrease power emission to minimum in attempt to avoid being detected by Cardassians who came to that system to meet with the Kessok (new species!). Then, you tap into their comline and listen to their conversation. At one point, Cardassians detect you. Lead Cardassian ship (Matan) and Kessok ship warp away while more Galors warp in. You can either escape back to Starbase 12 or stay and fight. Hint: Stay and fight. If you destroy all 7 Galors, you get Secret Quantum Torpedos! That means that your stock of Quantum Torpedos magically replenishes itself (if you spent any, ofcourse). |
Re: Need Help with Biranu Station Mission Yeah, Birdge Commander has its "Star Trek" like moments, but it is still mostly ship-to-ship combat. There's the in-betweens of ferrying ambassadors and looking for strange objects in different systems but you will always end up fighting a group of ships. The story is pretty linear in that sense. There are only two variations to your ending in the second-last level and that is the type of ally you want to fight with you. |
