you'll need to open the file (whatever it's name is) in scripts/ships/ and change the line "Name: whatever" to "Name: whatever you want"
also, go with what jimmy said and change the plugin too.
changing the pointer file (in scripts/ships) will change the name of the ship IN THE GAME.
change the plugin will change the name IN THE MENUES.

Foundation.ShipDef.whatever.hasTGLName = 1
Foundation.ShipDef.whatever.hasTGLDesc = 1 and put a # before both lines where it says "Foundation"
