What can i do with these specs
 

Alright here are my specs what can i run with it.

for future refence like how many ships can i support on screen at once and what kind.
Hp A335w Pentium 4
2.50GHz
512 MB ram
Nivdia Geforce 5500 Fx

i recommend upgrading your graphics card and buying more momory so you have at least 1 Gig then you should be able to run just about everything just check your motherboard to see what card it supports up to! Cause the newer cards need at least a 350 watt power supply so good hunting!

yeah definately a new graphics card, and dont buy a 6600 gt anymore, personally i think its getting old, buy a 7600 gs or gt or a 7300 gt.

Correct Sovereign. And yes, definatly upgrade your graphics card, the ones suggested by Soveign are very good, but if you want insane (:D) Dual 1GB nVidia GeForce 7950 (being ordered for my new computer! hehe)

Holy crap. You guys are talking INSANE speeds and graphics power. I mean, I'm running on 334.5 MHz and you guys are talkin 2.50 GHz!!!! I'll be getting a faster computer soon, just below 3.00 GHz, but I mean, that's just insane!!

Well since this eems to have mutated into a 'who has better specs?' thread, heres mine:

Windows XP Home SP2
3.06GHz P4 Processor
1GB DDRRam
512mb X1900XTX Radeon Graphics Card

Now all i need is a clear PC case with some neon light strips and it would be totally pimped out :)

I just wish there was a comp fast enough to run BC without any stutters at all... particularly against the larger ships.

My advice with the 2.50 GHz.. no. Trust me, I have a Celeron D Processor (2.53 Ghz) with 1Gig of ram and the top of the line (for a PCI - YES! PCI!) video card and I can't have 10 ships versus the poor Borg Cube. I say go for the 3.10+ range. If you like Intel, go with the Intel based motherboards (I.E. Intel Pentium 4, ect) or if you like AMD... AMD Athlon, ect.. ect. Video card? Any 'newer' ones but good in the price range... Trial and error but it helps... don't ask about my computer :bawl:
