Certain Aspects of the Game No Longer Working

The game was running fine up until yesterday. I purchased a new joystick, and after some brief play, I found that I could open the spawn menu, the music menu, or pause the game. All other commands seem to work. I have tried uninstalling the joystick software, reinstalling Battlefield Vietnam several times in different places, searching for help on the forums, and contacting EA Games Tech Support with no luck. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, I would greatly appreciate their help.

What kind of joystick is it?THAT would be a good thing for us to know......

It is a Logitech Freedom Cordless joystick.

There I found the file causing the problem. There was a Battlefield Vietnam folder in My Documents, and it had a file system like the game. It had a Common.con file that was preventing me from being able to access the commands.
