BF2 complete collection and vista problem(done everything everyone has said but still wont work)

Ok i just got this game today and i have installed bf2. When i continue the installation, it says it is patching 1.1. A few minutes later, it says it failed to patch to 1.1, but a separate pop-up says it was successfully installed. I still continue with the installation anyway. But it will do the same thing for the rest of the installation process. I see that the bf2 icon is in my desktop already, so i try to open it. First it goes to a black screen as if the game was going to open, but then it just goes back to the desktop and there's nothing. I check task manager's processes tab, and it seems there's no process running related to bf2. I assumed it's because i have vista and the compatibility crap (i already know all about the compatibility and security and uac and firewall etc.). i have checked the compatibility to run in WinXP SP2 mode, went into the security tab and checked allow for all(oh and yes i am the administrator. there's only one profile on my computer.), closed my antivirus/firewall, right clicked and run as admin, but it still does the same thing. black screen and crash.

i just downloaded the 1.41 full patch from xfire, hoping it will work. will update once its done.

NOTE: If you're thinking about telling me to set compatibility to XP sp2 and that crap, dont. As i said earlier in the post, i already know that.

nevermind, downloaded the 1.41 patch directly from xfire and it worked.
