Does this card do well with BF2? Hello, I am purchasing a Nvidia 6800GS 512 mb AGP graphics card... Will this work well with BF2? I mean will there be any playing lag and do you know what settings I can set it to without there being any lag? (medium, high etc) The card that I am currently running is a Nvidia 5200 256 mb, and it runs really laggy, even on low settings.... My specs Pentium 4 prossessor @ 3.2 GHGZ 1GB of Ram (1) 200 GB Hard Drive (1) 150 2ndary Hard drive Windows XP service pack 2 (I have windows vista) All help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!:) :) :) :) :) |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? Whooow Your in luck! thats just what i have! and the almost the same fo ram and just about the same processer (mines AMD 64bit) altho im using Windows Xp not vista lol.. anyways Crank up those grahix up to max  i should think you will have the same performance as me :nodding: just a quick note i get about 3 secounds of lag just at the begining of the 1st multiplayer game i join after that its plain sailing at around 50fps hope this helps. btw i have not yet found a game yet that i cannot run on max settings (that includes bf2142 beta) |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? :) :) Sweet man, Thanks for the fast reply!!!:) :) Oh ya, how much did ur card cost.... Im spending 400 for mine (wich is way overpriced, I think but the guy hoo is installing it wants that much so wateva) |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? the card will be good. having 1.5 or 2 gig of memory really helps with the lag, but that gfx card will really help compared to the 5200. 400.00 PLNPoland Zlotych = 68.2803 GBPUnited Kingdom Pounds 400.00 PLNPoland Zlotych = 128.203 USDUnited States Dollars Personally I think that is a good buy for the money. I assume you are in Poland and using Zlotych, otherwise it could be a really bad buy :) |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? You should consider buying a 7600gs, its about £130 and very good card, better than the 6800, it also has Pixel Shader 3 which makes your games prettier and is required for future games such as Crysis. Take a look at it. |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? Sorry, but I allready placed the order.... And I live in the usa, not Poland so i guess this guy is ripping me off... Hes installing an AGP card... NOT PCI, wich is faster and doesnt cost as much, but my mother board only takes AGP, so thats wut ill have to live with. Thanks though... |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? Ok $400 he is ripping you off, Doesnt really matter, just enjoy your faster new card :) |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? Holy crap you got ripped off big time, a 7600gs is much better and should be about $230, and for $400 you could get an even better one, take the order back, your getting ripped off big time! |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? Quote:
to bullet_from_behind: the 6800gs does have Pixle shader 3 support oh somthing i didn't mention when i was telling you about the performance of it i have a Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Fatal1ty which should make a fair difference to performance but then again i have a second PC with: 2.9 Ghz Processer 6600 GT (128mb AGP) 1gb Ram Windows XP SoundBlaster Audigy2 NX wich runs the game on a mix of high and medium settings. i used to have a 5600 with the above settup which couldn't get much further then low settings so you should get a big boost on speed i just hope that you think the money was well spent |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? Ya, well, i guess ill just wait and see... One quick question: I purchased this fan :http://www.xoxide.com/uvslotcooler.html Will it work if I put it right under my VGA card???? And doesit blow air in, or suck the hot air out? Will this make a difference to the 6800 that im getting? Thanks |
Re: Does this card do well with BF2? i expect there will be instrutions on how to use it so just read up as for cooling iv never needed to, (i have not tried using the munfacturers supported overclock speed yet though) |
