PunkBuster Kick : Inadequate O/S Privileges

I know there are other threads like this, but they all lead to one thing. That thing is not being a sdministartor on the specified computer. The thing is that i am one of three admins on this computer. I have access to everything. Yet I still get the Message saying PunkBuster Kick : Inadequate O/S Privileges everytime I try to join a server. I tried updating PB, thinking of reinstalling the whole series all over..AGAIN. Is there any way I can get around this?

do you check the punkbuster website?


Download and run this file from any location, it will check for adware that stops you from being able to play on PB servers. The VX2 adware edits your user rights when it infects your computer, and many programs do not repair this when they remove it.

Click the "Find VX2.betterinternet info" button to make sure that you don't have this adware. If there are no files listed, go on to the last step. If you find the adware files, (it is usually 3 random named dll files) Select all the files found.
Press 'Delete These Files'. The program will delete all files but one that will be deleted on reboot. Allow program to reboot. Once Restarted:

• Press 'Guardian.reg'.
• Press 'User Agent'.
• Press 'Restore Policy'.

Clicking on "find vx2.BetterInternet info" again should show all fields blank.
If you have no adware files, just click on the "Restore Policy" Button

this will work believe me. if the first two options in bullet form arent available just use the third it will still work.

Go to Evenbalance.com

check on the os privilages post there.

Find the Bf2.Exe
Right click
select properties
click on security tab
set user to administrator
hit the apply button
Should be good to go

I Had the very same problem, but I FOUND the solution on my own (amazing). If you have Vista all you have to do is:

1. right click Battlefield 2 exe.
2. open as admin

and thats it!

If you have XP, just go the the PB Website
