Another problem patching BF2...
 

There seems to be ALOT of problems with this new patch. What the hell happened Dice/EA...Bf1942 patches were so simple and always worked, no problem.

Ok, so I installed a fresh copy of BF2 on a fresh installation of XP last night. Unfortunately when I went to upgrade to the 1.2 patch I was unable to. First of all when I click on the 1.2.exe it takes about 10 minutes to load up. I first thought it wasnt doing anything at all. So I click next to install the files and then it tries to install mb 3 files and then hangs. I then tried to install the 1.12 patch and the increment patch to 1.2. Well that behaves the same way as the full 1.2 upgrade. Takes about 10 minutes before I see anything on my screen regarding the patch and then basically hangs. This is so fucking annoying and I dont know what to do now.

I should say that I installed Bf2 and the 1.12 patch with minimum problems a couple months ago. Before my os crashed and I had to reinstall.

Im running:
XP home
2.66ghz cpu
9700 128mb
512mb ram
plenty of hard drive space

Yet another thread about these. STOP POSTING THEM. THEY GET OLD AND WE ALREADY KNOW YOU HAVE PROBLEMS

And if you search the forums you will find that, yes, the patches take AGES depending in your hardware, start the install, go away and have dinner, come back 30 minutes later, if it's still not finished THEN yoy may have problems.

Sorry about reviving this thread, but i registered just now in hope of solving the same problem the thread starter had. I have bought a new copy of bf2, installed, got the patch 1.21 at EA, and left it over night only resulting in it freezing my comp at 9%. So pwease help me.

asus p4pse mobo
seagate 80gb sata
ati 9800 pro 128mb
1gb samsung pc3200
intel p4 2.4ghz

Do you have enough HDD space? If it's freezing at 9% maybe some other program is causing probelms. Try disabling AV and anti-spyware software before patching and see how that goes.
