help required for sidewinder precision2 w2k

I bought a Sidewinder Precision2 Joystick to help in my quest to fly planes ala TopGun style but im having a right ballache to try and configure the joystick so it works!!!

1st it seems you have to allocate the buttons a keystroke but im having trouble getting BF1942 to reconnise my actual STICK so i can move left right forward backward etc, it notices the buttons fine but i cant get it to see the Stick!!

Can anyone please help me!!!

Has anyone got one of these Joysticks and are able to help me out please msn me at drleecooper@yahoo.com or email to same addy!

Thnx in advance!!!

When you go to assign a stick function, you must hold the joystick exactly centered and very still. The centering dead zone is quite small which makes it real sensitive to center. It took me a few tries, but once I got it to recognize it, it works great.
Unfortunately, with XP you can't install the sidewinder software to adjust the centering dead zone.
On win98 you can reduce centering sensitivity which makes it easier to set up.:)

how do i get it to reconise the dead zone mate?

How I did it was by just using a very steady hand.
While the setup screen is up and your ready to assign a stick function, hold the stick at exact dead center (it takes a bit of effort to get it just right), then click the assign function and move the stick in the direction you want it assigned. Repeat until all functions are set. Sorry, it's kind of hard for me to explain.
It took me quite a few tries to get mine to work.

I also have the sidewinder, but i have the pro, i guess its the newer one. Just make sure you keep the aim thing in the middle of the box. I never did this and i learned the hard way. Now its perfect.
