Join Date: May 30th, 2003 Location: USA Rep Power: 0 | Server is dropping off the face of the earth We have a server that we want to get (& keep) up and running... however much tweeking we have done, it still has a few bugs and I just can't figure them out.
We have:
Tyan Motherboard
Dual AMD processors (1800mp each) w/ software raid
2 gig of RAM
Sdsl connection (768 throughput)
Windows 2000 Server on IDE Drive (it's own drive)
Battlefield Server is on 2 SCSI Drives w/ 0 "stripped" raid
The connection is new and before we were doing testing on a regular cable modem with about 6-8 players... was working fine, now that we are paying out of our butts for the new connection... well, it just aint working too great
The game play is fine and there seems to be no complaints from players about lag or performance, but something is happening when everyone is playing, (no matter how many people are playing from 1 to 20) the game just randomly starts the "WARNING CONNECTION PROBLEMS" deal and then everyone gets booted...
After that, the server restarts itself in about 20-30 seconds and I go back into the server, the weird part is that the game is right where it left off before. Same score and everything.
We were using Kevin's "BFServer Manager" and we decided to try using the server that just came with the game... Well, it's not dropping off now, and things seem much improved, (we have had two drop offs since, and the company we are using said it could have been that the modem went out of sinc...) but for obvious reasons, we would like to figure out what the problem is when we use the BFServer manager...
If anyone is experiencing any of these issues, any help is greatly appreciated.
TY,
