I don't think my dad will buy 1 gig of ram and I have a radeon 7500. But I don't think its lagging that much, cuz I was playing battlefield and it started to get kinda choppy. so I turned effects
from high to low. And it didn't make a difference on performance.

d00d , ur ram is fine , ur video card is the problem....... so , instead of wasting money on another 256 mb stick , u can go for a Radeon 8500 , itz an amazing card . u wont regret it !! :
I told you im not just getting the RAM for battlefield. im getting it for other programs that need it. like my modeling program. And I have wanted to get the radeon 8500 for a long time, but im 11 years old. and my parent's wont get it.
Come on XzerXes, blue on a green background? Some of us actually read these things you know!
Just to let you know gamefreak, I did a progressive upgrade, 256, 512, 768, 1Gb. The biggest jump in performance (specially in load times) was going from 256 to 512. Now I have 1Gb I am almost always the first in the game when a new level loads.
But you won't get much FPS improvement in your game I am afraid, it is your vid card limiting your performance, the 7500 is basically the slowest supported ATI vid card. But if you can handle it that's fine. Shop around for your mem though, the prices vary greatly from shop to shop and you may just find your 1Gb for the same price you pay for getting 768Mb. Just the other day I bought 2 512Mb PC2700 DDR sticks for $100AU each, that's around $50US.
i just got the RAM! a 512 stick that replaces a 256 stick. and even signing on the Internet if faster! btw i do get better performance and it was only $60
