Cant Run Merciless Addon! Help A Dummy!
 

I d/led the addin and tried to install it and everytime i get


"Your \MODS\BF1942\Init.con file was

NOT SUCCESSFULLY backed up to run this mod.



Problems exist - could NOT FIND YOUR INIT.CON

in the path of:

C:\Program Files\Battlefield 1942\Mods\Mods\BF1942\



Please resolve this issue and attempt reinstalling this mod"

I dont kno wut to do since i kno absolutly nothing about comps so educate me

Go to C: program files/Ea Games/Battlefield 1942/mods/bf1942 and using notepad or word pad make an init.con file save it and place it in the directory above. This is the default init.con before you put the merciless mod on your computer. Put what i wrote down into notepad save it and put it where it belongs.

thanx but it didnt work. i made the init file and put it in my merciless folder, mods folder, original, and mods/bf1942 folder - no succes

ok i take that back but i am confused. there are multiple folders. a MC1942 folder Mctexest a Texture Set and CrossHair folder. What do i do with them? do i put them in the MC1942 folder?

No. YOu just leave those alone. The init.con put it where i told you too and itll work.

Ok yea i got those workin fine.

Now...The texture sets. How do i get those to work

Merciless has the option of drop and drag. When you installed the mod it made folders with the name of maps on your computer. Now you download a skin lets say you want a mustang skin for bocage you take the dds file you downloaded and drop it in the bocage folder. Now the texture sets folder is on C:/Program Files/Ea Games/Battlfield 1942. There should be a folder called texture sets and any skin you want on a map you just drop it in that specific map.

Feels like i need to take a course in computer programming to install one mod. wow:eek:

So i just put the files into the leves in the texture set folder right? wreong?

Where the folders have the maps names you just drop whatever skin you want into that folder for whatever map.

After installing MC 1.4 my BF1942 v1.3 lost all settings. It used to start straight to the menu. I used to have crosshairs and bloodfx. What gives? Is there any way to go back to MC 1.3? I am upset about this because it is a lot of work putting back everything. What exactly did this 288MB mod do to my system?
