Virtual Memory (Help!)
 

I was asking a few of my friends what their paging file size is (they all have the same amount and type of memory as me) and mine seems to be quite low, i have it set as:-

Custom Settings

Initial Size = 384mb

Maximum Size = 768mb

Whereas most of my friends have both the same at about 1024 :(

So naturally i went to change both settings to 1024mb but when i clicked on "ok" to apply the settings my system shut down and i got a BSOD stating:-

Then, when my system restarted after the error i got a "Send, Dont Send" error saying.........

Could anyone please help me as to how to make the page file size bigger without it crashing my PC?? my system is as follows........

Athlon XP 1.7Ghz
Gigabyte GA-7VAXP Ultra
512mb DDR PC2100 RAM
Radeon 9700Pro
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Antec TruePower 430w PSU

Don't worry about changing your virtual memory.
Keep it the way it came.
You have 512MB and unless you are running some resource bogging appz then don't worry about it.
Virtual memory is long gone...
Me and my 1.5GB will never ever ever see it again.

If you're running XP leave it as managed by the OS rather than manually setting it. All the previous OS's (win95, 98, 98SE, ME) had terrible memory management software, and tweaking the virtual mem was very useful, however XP (and 2000 of course) both have very capable memory management software and can really hand the virtual mem better than you.

If you have 512Mb mem you don't need 1Gb virtual mem. Mine is set to "let windows mamage your virtual mem" and it works fine for eveything.
