Corrupt Data Error! I keep getting a corrupt data error when i try and enter a server. I recently had a problem because the game would constantly ask me to reinsert the cd so i got mad and removed everything including gamespy. I reinstalled everything (bf1942, 1.31 patch and gamespy with update) and i get a corrupt data error now and cant join any servers what so ever. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance |
Hi EnvyXM, When you re-installed, did you un-install BF, then delete the old EA games/Battlefield 1942 directories, if you didn't this could be causing the problem. It may have left some files behind that are interfering in your new installation. Also things like no-cd patches can cause problems (even if you have a genuine game). And oh yes, Gamespy=bad All Seeing Eye=good, get ASE rather than gamespy. The corrupt data problem is usually caused when the .exe or some of the map or mod files don't match those running on the server you are trying to join. Let me know how you go :cya: :cya: :cya: |
Also If you try to enter a server that is running a Mod you dont have or you have a mod on that they are not running it will give you the same error. This causing you to crash to Desktop. gl :cya: |
I have had this problem lately it started for me right after reinstalling bf,RTR again, with the merciless addons. To get them working with RTR and version 1.31 you have to do some changes to your init.con i got the changes required from the official merciless forum and "corrupt data" exactly like you said, i rolled back my init to a backup which of course ruins some of the merciless features but no corrupt data. My init as it is and working game.setCustomGameName BF1942 game.addModPath Mods/MC1942_TexSet/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/MC1942_BloodFX/ game.addModPath Mods/MC1942_Crosshair/ game.addModPath Mods/MC1942/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/ game.setCustomGameVersion 1.31 game.setCustomGameUrl "http://www.battlefield1942.com" Game.setMenuMusicFilename "music/slaughter4.bik" Game.setLoadMusicFilename "music/vehicle4.bik" Game.setWinMusicFilename "music/vehicle3.bik" Game.setLoseMusicFilename "music/menu.bik" Game.setCampaignLoseMusicFilename "music/theme2.bik" Game.setDebriefingMusicFilename "music/briefing.bik" This is the way the init is supposed to be according to the official website game.CustomGameName XPack1 game.addModPath Mods/MC1942_TexSet/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/MC1942_BloodFX/ game.addModPath Mods/MC1942_Crosshair/ game.addModPath Mods/MC1942/ game.addModPath Mods/XPack1/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/ game.customGameFlushArchive 0 game.setCustomGameVersion 1.31 game.setCustomGameUrl "http://www.battlefield1942.com" game.setCustomGameInfo "XPACK1_INFO" Game.setMenuMusicFilename "music/slaughter4.bik" Game.setLoadMusicFilename "music/vehicle4.bik" Game.setWinMusicFilename "music/vehicle3.bik" Game.setLoseMusicFilename "music/menu.bik" Game.setCampaignLoseMusicFilename "music/theme2.bik" Game.setDebriefingMusicFilename "music/briefing.bik" But it gives me corrupt data errors, a friend has this and no problem so i'd say most ppl can use this without problems but theres a bug here. In an attempt to get it working i added the one line "game.addModPath Mods/XPack1/" and this alone caused the problem If anyone is aware of this and has any idea how i can config this file or can check wether this is the problem please respond. |
Ah wait i think i've found the problem (thanks to post on this forum by Dark Angel) i had forgotten about the init.con in the xpack1 dir, leaving the main init.con to what was set by the merciless installation. But having the xpack1/init.con to this game.CustomGameName XPack1 game.addModPath Mods/MC1942_TexSet/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/MC1942_BloodFX/ game.addModPath Mods/MC1942_Crosshair/ game.addModPath Mods/MC1942/ game.addModPath Mods/XPack1/ game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/ game.customGameFlushArchive 0 game.setCustomGameVersion 1.3 game.setCustomGameUrl "http://www.battlefield1942.com" game.setCustomGameInfo "XPACK1_INFO" Game.setMenuMusicFilename "music/slaughter4.bik" Game.setLoadMusicFilename "music/vehicle4.bik" Game.setWinMusicFilename "music/vehicle3.bik" Game.setLoseMusicFilename "music/menu.bik" Game.setCampaignLoseMusicFilename "music/theme2.bik" Game.setDebriefingMusicFilename "music/briefing.bik" It so far seems to have fixed the problem and given me a fully working merciless. I tested it online with 5 normal maps and 1 rtr map and so far no problem. |
