Screen resolution 1280x1024

Salute Soldiers http://forums.filefront.com/images/smilies/smilie.gif

I have a problem. I have just bought a new screen, Sony SDM-HS94P, that is a 19" TFT screen, with resolution in 1280x1024

My old Grafixx card was an Asus Geforce4 Ti4200, and i have just bought a new one Asus Geforce6600GT

But the problem is, the screenresolution i BF/DC can only be in 1280x960?? I can only in the video setting take that resolution and not higher. My Windows XP, and World of Warcraft runs in 1280x1024 without problems, but not BF.

I also have have Lord of the ring - The battle for middle-earth, where i also only can choose the resolution 1280x960

Any one that know why?? Can we solve the problem with a patch or any other program http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif

I have the newest drivers from Nvidia, and also the latest Sony driver for the screen.

Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support,

We are so sorry for the inconvenience, but the video card automatically detects the resolution that it can support. The video card can also run in higher resolutions in other games depending on the system requirements of the game. Sorry but thats the only resolution that it could support for the game.

Thank You,
Marc C.

> Response (Box Emmanuel R.)02/24/2005 12:36 AMHello,

Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support,

The game's resolution is auto-configured. Your video card automatically configures the available resolution for the game. Unfortunately, you cannot edit or change the resolution.

Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support,

In order to best troubleshoot your issue, I'm going to need some more system information. Can you send me the information from a program called dxdiag.exe. To do this:

· Go to Start -> Run.
· In the box, type the following: dxdiag
· Click "OK"
· Click the "Save All Information" button on the first screen of the application.
· Then on top of the "Save As" box that pops up, select Desktop (if it's not set to save there already), then click Save.
· Finally, attach the dxdiag.txt to your email reply.

After we receive this file we can continue troubleshooting the issues at hand and hopefully come to a solution.

I can not change battlefield into that resolution. only 1280x960 :-(
I have updatet my graphis driver to the newest from Nvidia, my graphic card is an Asus Geforce4 TI4200

I have also installed the win drivers that comes with the screen.

Re: Screen resolution 1280x1024

Just modify your Video.con (or is it VideoCustom.con) manually. Change the 960 to 1024 and save. Load BF1942 and when the Profile screen pops up, ignore it and just click Single Play or Multiplayer buttons instead.

The files should be in your settings folder, probably looks something like:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\Profiles\Custom

Re: Screen resolution 1280x1024

BF1942 only supports screen resolutions in the range of 4:3 aspect ratios, this supports most common display ranges like 640X480, 800X600, 1024X768 and 1280X960, but not res settings like 1280X1024 which are 5:4 aspect ratio. The reason for this is, unlike WOW, BF1942 is a FPS, and the view in the screen is what the player should be able to see from the characters viewpoint. A person using 5:4 aspect ratio would be able to see a wider screen area compared to a player at 4:3 aspect ratio and would therefore have an unfair advantage over some other players. Any sceen res combination that does not work out to a 4:3 aspect ratio can't be used to play BF. Of course in games like WOW (and windows naturally) the aspect ration doesn't matter. As far as I am aware all FPS are restricted to the 4:3 aspect ratio.

Re: Screen resolution 1280x1024

Hmmm Okay

Do you think BF2 will support the screen resolution in 1280x1024?

There is many screens in the world that runs best at 1280x1024, I could live with the resolution 1280x960 if I get some black area on the screen, right now my picture is not clear/disturbed by the resolution, because it uses the hole screen.

Any one who knows about I can run the screen in 1280x960 without any disturbtions??

Re: Screen resolution 1280x1024

Well I do have the same problem, my monitor LCD supports 1280X1024, my suggestion is to run at 1024X768 and just turn up the efects and AA/AF as much as you can, it looks just as good.
