Set resolution to high

I set my resolution to high on accident and now its all black, i can't see any of the menu's is there a way i can start up the game with a lower resolution? All i can hear is audio.

first go here
D:\Battlefield1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\Profiles\C ustom
may not be your exact directory but i just copy pasted mine, and open the file "Video"
at the to your should see your crazy resolution and your refresh rate, just set it to a nice generic low one like 800 600 16, and if you have the refresh rate in there its a 4th number, set it to 60 so it would look like 800 600 16 60. hope that helped.
