BF1942 problem with restarting Computer!

Hail

First off Ill put my computer specs, and what I have done...

CPU Barton 2.6ghz
512MB Ram
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256
KS78XE Asrock Mobo (SIS Chipset)
Link to more indepth info... http://www.asrock.com/product/product_k7s8xe+.htm
2 HardDrives:
C- 60gb (windows, program files, installed games)
D- 80gb (Storage: music, films, backuped games)
I have a Case Fan aswell as a cpu fan, and the system stays around 40-45C
My sound card is Mobo based, a SIS 7012 Audio Device
Standard 56k Modem
Lan Card 10/100
Windows XP Pro SP1

Thats about it.

Problem:
SOME games will either restart randomly.... the whole system restarts...
Some games include: Battlefield 1942, Laser Squad Nemsis (In the middle of a massive HotSeat Game.. ughh!! lol) and thats about it, I havent bothered to install any other games yet...

Battlefield will restart only when its loading a map..
Laser squad restarted when processing turns.

What I have done:
Installed Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Installed ATI Catalyst 3.8 (Then installed 4.1 currenly at 4.1)
Installed DirectX 9.0b
Fitted a case fan.

Went back to the shop and exchanged my memory stick for a new one.... Problem NOW doesnt happen as quickly, sometimes I can play games, sometimes it crashes (in relation to Battlefield Loading)

My ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb should be able to use 8x AGP..
My motherboard has enabled Fast Write and 8x AGP
When I check Catalyst, I choose 8x AGP with the slider and it says "restart" computer restarts (sits on blue screen for AGES after restart... eventually goes) then when it loads up, its back to Off..

Okay thats about it... Any ideas anyone!?
*sighs* I Think its the motherboard...

I Dont know if been stuck for 5 days now, please anyone!?
Thanks for your time

Right mouse button on "My computer" - Mannage - Event veiwer - System.

Read the error message, See if that helps, get onto the Microsoft Data base and see what thay say

Hi Farske,

I found this on a website here; http://www.evga.com/support/engnotes/Note_02.asp

Quote:

AGP Fast Writes make a very small performance difference, but have been known to cause a wide variety of stability problems
It may help disabling AGP Fast Write, I have had problems with this feature before and always disable it just in case and never have any of the problems you describe. It may depend on the motherboard chipset and the make of Vid card, but it's probably more likely to occur on a budget motherboard like the Asrock than a full Asus motherboard (Asus make Asrock mobo's as a budget alternative).

Let me know how you go.

Good luck
