No, he's right... I've created tons of new props and buildings with notepad. Jk... try using Milkshape 3D... get the demo, because I don't know if it will work. If you need help skinning them, that's a whole other subject that I have no idea about.

1) ODF files are NOT models and you DO edit them with notepad.
