Tunnel Extravaganza ! Okay - that was just a flashy title to get you in here :) I love to play engineer - and I tend to play VC....so here is my question : I hav a habit of trying to be sneaky and get into the US's main bases. However, there have been several occasions on several maps that I got to the base - remained undetected - and go tot what I thought would be a prime location to dig a tunnel. However, 90% of the time It will not allow me to select it. I then got to have a shootout with that Sub-Machine gun they have which usually ends up in my death before too long. By chance, has anyone taken the time to note what maps allow tunnels. And furthermore, are there specific locations that they can be dug ?? The only reason I thought they could be anywhere, becasue I've seen some horrible placments of tunnels. I just assumed the ground had to be flat - and you're good to go... Many Thanks, Ya - I have a Honzo Sword - bought it at a pawn shop. |
Re: Tunnel Extravaganza ! Man now I really DO have to make that tunnel FAQ. You cannot randomly dig a tunnel. You need to pick up the tunnel object from a location (G) and move it. The tunnel object looks like a hole and a pile of dirt with a shovel sticking out of it. Only after you have the tunnel can you use your shovel to place it. Some of the maps with tunnels are: Operation Irving Operation Hastings Ho Chi Minh Trail Cambodian Incursion Khe Sahn Ia Drang Lang Vei LZ Albany I can tell you that on LZ Albany they appear (spawn) in places that are easy to find using your MAP (if you're US and looking for them). Also, this quick tip: Ground doesn't even have to be flat... if an item (like a tree) is on a hill it'll keep the tunnel object from sliding down. |
Re: Tunnel Extravaganza ! and you can not place them inside of a building, unless it has a dirt floor, i.e. a tent. |
Re: Tunnel Extravaganza ! i didnt know the tunnle was on lang vei. |
Re: Tunnel Extravaganza ! yeah, it starts out where the ZSU starts out. NVA have 2 mobil spawns on that map. one tunnel, and that DAMNED spawn chopper. LOL. |
Re: Tunnel Extravaganza ! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that most of those are true for multiplayer and not co-op or single player |

You should check it out though. Fire up BFV, Multiplayer and start your own game. I suggest Irving, Ho Chi Minh or Cambodian Incursion since they're there at the beginning of the map. You don't have to wait for a point to be taken before they spawn, unlike LZA. You're best off spawning at them to find them, but in case you don't: Irving: It's in the south part of the temple (eastern spawnpoint) near the road, and just north of the courtyard area (second flag from the right). Ho Chi Minh: It's about 20-25m south east of the northernmost flag. It's usually under a tall tree behind a bunker. Use your spawnpoint map (enter) and you'll find it easily. Cambodian Incursion: It's the one on the right. I'm almost positive. [EDIT] This may seem obvious, but if I didn't say it I'm sure I'd hear something... Choose to be VC, and choose the kit with the shovel, THEN go check it out. |

I was playing Operation Hastings vs. bots and noticed the NVA were all coming out of a shack on their airstrip. Since I already had the base I was concerned. Some investigating showed that there was indeed a tunnel there - right where it's supposed to be (right where it appears in MP). Now I'll tell you - I have never seen it there in a CO-OP game before. I'll have to see if I can make it happen again. |
Re: Tunnel Extravaganza ! Saving the rant for people who don't scout for tunnels and crates being idjits but the best "Body flying 90' into the air" explosions I have seen are when you demo a tunnel and someone spawns on it just before it blows. BLAMMO! 1 quick note Padre, if ye make the FAQ make it a crate/tunnel FAQ. Knowing how to find and kill mobile spawns is actually a little more important than knowing how to move them ;) |

Still, it's good to know where they appear! |
