BFV patch i hate the new patch they ruined the m60 does anyone else agree with me... |
Re: BFV patch no, because the M60 was way to accurate, and its rate of fire was to high. thats why noobs used it. |
Re: BFV patch The M-60 totally unbalanced any close-quarter map. I'm glad they made the changes they did. |
Re: BFV patch I am glad as well. Now you have to be prone to get accuracy with the M-60. It is a lot more fair and I enjoy seeing some guy with a M-60 shooting me in a crouching position and the I just capp him with my Type-56!!!!(my new favorite combo) |
Re: BFV patch Yeah, they made it useless. The problem is, they have to balance all the weapons. So even if a weapon is historically better than all the other weapons in the game, they'd have to change it so it was more fair. I mean, the LAW was a disposable weapon-you can't reload it. In the game, however, you can. Also, the Marines used bazookas, not the LAW, the M-16, AK-47, M-14 had selectable fire modes. The M-79 had a ton of different kinds of ammo it could fire. Only one in the game. It's all done to make it more balanced. Let's say a weapon in the game, historically speaking, was better than all the others. It had a faster fire rate, did more damage, not a lot of recoil, more accurate, longer range, etc. That would be unfair. They're not going for total realism here. So, while I agree the M-60 was dumbed down, it's okay by me because they're trying to balance it all. |
Re: BFV patch ^ well actually in the game you dont reload the law. you just have 5 and after you fire one you can see him toss it on the ground. another unrealistic thing about that class is that you were able to carry those 5 laws with you. ok so you have a 50pound machine gun + 3 clips. 5 LAWS (dont know how much they way). 1 pistol + 4 clips. 1 knife. i dont see how your average GI Joe is able to run with all that crap. |
Re: BFV patch dont know about the weapons but the actual game seems to be more jerky and laggy, and more prone to freezing since i patched it. Hpoefully the patch will sort this out |
Re: BFV patch I've noticed the use of the M60 has gone down in pretty much all the servers I've hopped in lately and that's good, IMHO. "Dumbing" it down was necessary for the game balance. I think the class weapons are pretty much good as they stand now. Of course, I still have complaints about some of the vehicles weapons, but that is another thread for another day. |
Re: BFV patch i wish they would make BF:V accurate! |
Re: BFV patch Quote:
You have no idea what you are asking for, do you? You people would complain from here to eternity if this game was "accurate", and realism. Realism would suck. "BeeF FlapS [MIG17] CyberTechsoldier CyberTechsoldier: WTF, I can't spawn until next game?!!! BeeF FlapS: you wanted realism, go read a book while I fly now. |

I will take you out with any weapon  |
Re: BFV patch You crack me up, Beef. But, you're so dead-on right about the realism thing. Sure, there're games out there that force you to sit out once you die, but there really isn't a way to properly portray realism unless we can ALL play on ONE server so that there are thousands of players per side. Yeah, that WOULD be cool (like Planetside, only for 1942 or Vietnam or what-have-you). Except... once you die, that's it. The game deletes itself, the discs melt, and a perpetual registry entry wouldn't allow you to play the game again. Ever. Oh, and then if you DO survive, a bolt of electricity shoots out to your head from your monitor so you suffer from post traumatic stress disorder for the rest of your real life. Realism? I think not. Give me fictional game battles BASED on actual events with the focus being on game balance between teams any day. Yeah, I know I took that too literally before, but seriously. It's a game, like Beef said. And game balance is what is most important to make sure that everyone has a good time. |
Re: BFV patch You have a imagination going there little cesars |
Re: BFV patch *moved to rants and raves* Patch is fine for me |
Re: BFV patch Quote:
I think a better way to give some poor gamer post traumatic stress disorder is to while playing and your standing next to some guy who gets shot a video should pop up and show some real guy getting his head blown off with all of the blood and gory matter that pops out of someones head when they get shot in the head. This would suck just as much as watching that video of that guy getting his head cut off over and over again. Anyways on a different note I think that the M-79 should also fire smoke grenades or flares. There should be a class for the M-79 in which the M-79 would have different firing options ie. Smoke, frag, flare and other such things. It would also have some sort of machine pistol. That in my opinion would be a pretty cool class. But it would be kida useless because hardly anyone pays attention to my smokes (or any radio command for that matter!!). Also give smoke grenades to the M-16 and Car-15 classes!! I dont think that snipers only had smoke grenades in Vietnam!!:smokin: |
Re: BFV patch I think the smoke grenades would be much better if the smoke just lasted longer and plumed up higher. Tough for anyone in a support position or flying a plane/helo to see and respond to the smoke if it only lasts for a couple of seconds and goes ten feet. I think that's probably why the smoke grenades (1) aren't used so much and (2) suck. I agree that more classes should be outfitted with them (even if it's one)... especially if they worked better. Granted, the reason they probably are so limited in scope (area of coverage and height of plume) is because of possible network lag issues. In EoD, if a bunch of people forget that they're armed with smokes and not frag grenades and they all toss them in the same general viscinity, it can cause a tiny bit of net lag (not a helluva lot, mind you, but I imagine that in the BFV engine, it would cause more). |
Re: BFV patch i think the game is better since they patched it, the 60 definately needed to be toned down, my only complaint is why they didn't make the fof indicator (Q button) turned on by default, nothing annoys me more than to be killed by a teammate and have them tell me that they didnt know i was on their team, also i found that switching the fof indicator and parachute buttons makes things alot easier and i spend less time imitating a bloody pancake buried 6 inches in the ground ;) |
What about the real issues? It's all fine and dandy that the m60 is only available in one kit now, and that it has been toned down, but what about more important issues like optimizing the graphics and reducing the lag? Even though BF:V features huge maps and a large number of players, the graphic engine is slow and the net-code is quite frankly shit. I can't get a proper framerate on an Athlon 2400+ with a fx5600 card. And yes, I know about tweaking and optimizing. And the lag is prone to influence by players with slow connections: a slow player can knock down everyone's lag by going near them. And if he enters a plane or a chopper... Holy crap... I await the next patch with the gleeful joy of someone hoping for actual improvements instead of minor rebalancing issue. The Cockroach |
Re: BFV patch i think the patch was geat:D it adds some realism to it Now 90% play the assult kits(assuming most ppl had m16's in nam) i would like differnet types of nades in the m79. and more smoke nades or ones that last longer and go higher:D |
Re: BFV patch Cockroach I have the 5600 as well and I found that I had very bad lagg. But then I went into the sound options and I put it all the way to zero and now I have little lagg. Also welcom to the forums Cockroach. |
Re: What about the real issues? Quote:
I have never had any lag from slow connection people, BUT I have experienced the lag when in a chopper with someone who is lagging! I just bail out at that point. Not even worth flying with them, cause you KNOW they are gonna crash. |
fx5600? The devil in disguise? While I agree that the game is monstrously killer goddamn baboon bloody great, the fact that it only runs perfectly when played on LAN makes it sub-par. Especially when it has been promoted as a great online game. With regards to the sound/fx5600 issue, I can't really figure out why that would help, unless you have onboard sound. Onboard sound takes up an improportionate amount of porcessing time, so I tihnk that buying a better sound card would improve it more. I have onboard myself, and with games that are sound-heavy, like BF:V (all the doppler effects and area-oriented sound), it can kill your framerate. I am able to get a really nice framerate when playing on lan, or even while hosting with some twenty-odd bots, even though I have an Athlon, which are somewhat lousy at heavy processing. The fps and lag issues relate to online play only. I can have a ping at around 35-50 and still experience heavy lag when some high ping whiner gets close. And, yes, the choppers are cool and awesome and superfantastic, but if they aren't worth the bother because of some high ping shitcake, they're not worth the bother at all. Another day in paradise. Re: BFV patch Rehashing some old conversations since there hasn't been much new to talk about... Quote:
2.5 kilograms = 5.5 pounds "soldiers are issued 3-5 LAW each and carry them in a dedicated backpack." Quote:
KA-Bar (knife): Approx 1 lb (0.5 kg) M1911 Pistol: 2.4 lbs (1.1 kg) 3 clips: approx 2 lbs (about 1 kg)* M-14 (Full magazine and sling) 11.0 lbs (5.0 kilograms) 4 extra clips: 9.2 lbs (2 kg) L.A.W. (5): 5.5 lbs (2.5 kg) Binoculars: About 1.5 lbs (about 0.7 kg)** * Estimated on average weight of .45 caliber ball rounds. ** Estimated based on era-made Bushnell binoculars. So - the grand total? 32.6 lbs (14.8 kg) Not that much really... |
