You crack me up, Beef. But, you're so dead-on right about the realism thing. Sure, there're games out there that force you to sit out once you die, but there really isn't a way to properly portray realism unless we can ALL play on ONE server so that there are thousands of players per side. Yeah, that WOULD be cool (like Planetside, only for 1942 or Vietnam or what-have-you). Except... once you die, that's it. The game deletes itself, the discs melt, and a perpetual registry entry wouldn't allow you to play the game again. Ever. Oh, and then if you DO survive, a bolt of electricity shoots out to your head from your monitor so you suffer from post traumatic stress disorder for the rest of your real life. Realism? I think not.

Give me fictional game battles BASED on actual events with the focus being on game balance between teams any day.
Yeah, I know I took that too literally before, but seriously. It's a game, like Beef said. And game balance is what is most important to make sure that everyone has a good time.

LOL!!

I think a better way to give some poor gamer post traumatic stress disorder is to while playing and your standing next to some guy who gets shot a video should pop up and show some real guy getting his head blown off with all of the blood and gory matter that pops out of someones head when they get shot in the head.

This would suck just as much as watching that video of that guy getting his head cut off over and over again.

Anyways on a different note I think that the M-79 should also fire smoke grenades or flares. There should be a class for the M-79 in which the M-79 would have different firing options ie. Smoke, frag, flare and other such things. It would also have some sort of machine pistol.

That in my opinion would be a pretty cool class. But it would be kida useless because hardly anyone pays attention to my smokes (or any radio command for that matter!!). Also give smoke grenades to the M-16 and Car-15 classes!! I dont think that snipers only had smoke grenades in Vietnam!!:smokin:

Re: BFV patch

I think the smoke grenades would be much better if the smoke just lasted longer and plumed up higher. Tough for anyone in a support position or flying a plane/helo to see and respond to the smoke if it only lasts for a couple of seconds and goes ten feet. I think that's probably why the smoke grenades (1) aren't used so much and (2) suck. I agree that more classes should be outfitted with them (even if it's one)... especially if they worked better. Granted, the reason they probably are so limited in scope (area of coverage and height of plume) is because of possible network lag issues. In EoD, if a bunch of people forget that they're armed with smokes and not frag grenades and they all toss them in the same general viscinity, it can cause a tiny bit of net lag (not a helluva lot, mind you, but I imagine that in the BFV engine, it would cause more).

Re: BFV patch

i think the game is better since they patched it, the 60 definately needed to be toned down, my only complaint is why they didn't make the fof indicator (Q button) turned on by default, nothing annoys me more than to be killed by a teammate and have them tell me that they didnt know i was on their team, also i found that switching the fof indicator and parachute buttons makes things alot easier and i spend less time imitating a bloody pancake buried 6 inches in the ground ;)

What about the real issues?

It's all fine and dandy that the m60 is only available in one kit now, and that it has been toned down, but what about more important issues like optimizing the graphics and reducing the lag?
Even though BF:V features huge maps and a large number of players, the graphic engine is slow and the net-code is quite frankly shit.
I can't get a proper framerate on an Athlon 2400+ with a fx5600 card. And yes, I know about tweaking and optimizing. And the lag is prone to influence by players with slow connections: a slow player can knock down everyone's lag by going near them. And if he enters a plane or a chopper... Holy crap...

I await the next patch with the gleeful joy of someone hoping for actual improvements instead of minor rebalancing issue.

Re: BFV patch

i think the patch was geat:D it adds some realism to it Now 90% play the assult kits(assuming most ppl had m16's in nam) i would like differnet types of nades in the m79. and more smoke nades or ones that last longer and go higher:D

Re: BFV patch

Cockroach I have the 5600 as well and I found that I had very bad lagg. But then I went into the sound options and I put it all the way to zero and now I have little lagg.

Also welcom to the forums Cockroach.
