run on high?

will this pc run bf2 on high w/ good frames??
Athlon X2 3800+ (2 GHZ)
OCZ Gold 2x 512 mb ram
evga GeForce 7600 gt GDDR3 256mb
and an 80 gig hd(yes small i know)

OWNAGE2142 June 25th, 2007 03:35 PM

im not sure, but i can get around 60FPS on alll high settings with a 7900GS (256mb), a core 2 duo 2.6ghz, and 2gb ram.... so probably yours wouldnt run that well

Defiant001 June 25th, 2007 04:31 PM

Here are my specs:

amd athlon 3500+ 2.21 Ghz
2 gb ram (4x512 dimms)
BFG Geforce 7600 GT OC 256 MB
Sound Blaster Audigy 4

I run battlefield 2 on the HIGHEST settings it will go to, the resolution is at max along with all other settings, and the sound is at maximum quality, it never lags.

Did you mean 512 megs of ram in 2 times 256 dimms or 2 times 512 dimms totaling 1 gig? I would recommend you get that upgraded to 2 gigs, I noticed a huge performance upgrade after that, also a sound card is a good idea, anything to get it off the motherboard and onto a pci card, less work for the processor.

Acualy Is Confusingkid June 25th, 2007 04:45 PM

yeah i meant 2 512 dimms.
and yes 2 gigs is nice, but for a budget pc, i will have to upgrade later
:D
also a sound card is nice, but so is a cheap pc.
so later on down the road, i will get 2 gigs and a sound card.
im thinkin ill upgrade 512 mb at a time.
good idea??

Defiant001 June 25th, 2007 04:48 PM

Best to do all the upgrades at the same time, or if u cant afford it get the upgrade to 2 gigs first, it will increase your performance the most.

i can only afford 1 gig to start.
i will just put off buying bf2 until i have at least 1.5 gigs
if i could i would get 4 gigs,(although it would only show as like 3.75)
but i will only be working with like $400-$450 max.
that even discludes a harddrive and dvd drive.
lucky i already have those

Defiant001 June 25th, 2007 04:54 PM

2 gigs will be just fine, you won't use more then that. So go for the 2 gigs. So are you building a new computer, or upgrading an existing one?

building new, but it will be awhile, like after christmas.
thats why its a budget pc.
cant get enough$$$$$
so im going to build a decent pc that can play games for cheap.
i can post specs and prices if you want.

Defiant001 June 25th, 2007 04:58 PM

Sure lets see them

Acualy Is Confusingkid June 25th, 2007 05:05 PM

POWMAX black/silver 4 window case-$30(w/ psu, gonna have to upgrade :( )
Biostar nForce Ultra Am2- $65.99
EVGA GeForce 256 ddr3-$90.00
AMD Athlon x2 2 ghz-$70
OCZ Gold 2x512 mb-$47
Rosewill RCX-Z3 heatsink-$40(not needed but helps)
Artic Silver ceramique thermal compound-$5
120 mm fan w/leds(once again not needed but looks cool)-$4
i think its decent priced for the power.
total=$380

Defiant001 June 25th, 2007 05:30 PM

Not bad dude.. Gonna be a cool gaming rig . Whats your current specs if you don't mind me asking?

Acualy Is Confusingkid June 26th, 2007 07:56 AM

right now i have to use my dad's computer, but the specs are
intel pentium D 2.8 ghz
1gb dual channel
320 gb hard drive
windows media center
and integrated video.
but it played fear on medium
lol
yeah its a dell xps 200.
it sucks
:D

Defiant001 June 26th, 2007 08:00 AM

Suprising that integrated video played fear at all... Going to be better with that new computer you are planning on

Acualy Is Confusingkid June 26th, 2007 08:07 AM

im betting i can play fear on high.
if i played medium with crap graphics, then fear should run high with no problem.
that vidcard is cheap and its really good.

Defiant001 June 26th, 2007 08:09 AM

Yea from the sounds off it fear will run on max, same with a lot of games, what operating system were you planning to put on the new computer?

Acualy Is Confusingkid June 26th, 2007 08:11 AM

xps home.
its already on the harddrive i have, and i dont want to pay for a new os.
so its good enough.
would liked to have media center.
but oh well.

Defiant001 June 26th, 2007 08:20 AM

Hmm, if its already on the harddrive you may run into some problems throwing it into a computer with completely different specs, drivers won't match and things won't work properly.

I used a harddrive from a dell gx280 in a gx260 because the gx260 would not boot when it booted with the gx280's drivers and copy of xp it was terrible, ran in 16 colours and at like 680x400, network adapter wouldn't run, lagged terribly. It ran fine in the gx280, but because of a few driver and setting differences it was barely able to run.

if i just flash all the newest drivers for everything will that work??

Defiant001 June 26th, 2007 08:32 AM

Maybe but it will never be as good as a fresh install of windows...

Acualy Is Confusingkid June 26th, 2007 08:37 AM

i definately agree with that.
maybe after a few years when they get the bugs out of vista,(and the price goes down) then i will get more ram and a better cpu and get vista.
it looks cool.
its just so buggy right now.

Defiant001 June 26th, 2007 08:38 AM

Yea best to stick with XP now for gaming, and make sure you do a fresh install of windows on that new PC you get, its worth it believe me.

Acualy Is Confusingkid June 26th, 2007 08:44 AM

so will i have to buy a new version of windows???(another copy)

Defiant001 June 26th, 2007 09:18 AM

Well yea, unless you have another disc lying around somewhere that isn't being used.

Acualy Is Confusingkid June 26th, 2007 09:23 AM

dang.
so there goes another $100

Defiant001 June 26th, 2007 09:24 AM

Yup, maybe you should save some more before you buy the computer

Acualy Is Confusingkid June 26th, 2007 09:32 AM

i would have the pc done in like 2 years.
i dont wanna wait that long.
hmmm.
i could chain download 60 day trials of xp for free.
and its not illegal..

Defiant001 June 26th, 2007 10:13 AM

Best to save the hassle and find a cheap copy of xp home somewhere
