I am all about realism, I know how to get rid of the user display, but is there a console command or something to get rid of the names above peoples heads?
You really don't want to get rid of it, unless you're better than anyone I know at identifying uniforms at a distance, or you don't care about TK's (Team Kills). How would you keep from killing your teammates? How would you tell your squad members from everyone else on your side? One of the basic skills all of us would like recruits to pick up right away is Identifying the target BEFORE killing it... It'd be impossible for beginners without the names. It's not the names that are important, it's their color...

also considering games dont support high enough detail and far enough high detail draw distances yet I can tell you its pretty damn hard. And it is possible to identify uniforms but it is not easy. Ina long range shootout it is practically impossible.
The ONLY justified war is a war where the man who starts it is the first on the battlefield fighting for HIS beliefs.

I want it for single player not multiplayer, and if you cannot distinguish your men from the enemy just by looking at their uniform then there is something wrong. In real life there is not blue or red color above peoples head to indicate factions haha.

There are many factors that assist in helping ppl in combat areas to identify enemies, not all of these are visual. ie: the sound of the weapons used on each side, the way ppl move, the vehicles they are driving and etc. These clues are not present in BF2 "the game", anyone can drive a vehicle from either side (and yes I know you can drive any vehicle in real life, but anyone who drives a borrowed T90 into a group of M1A1 Abrams during a real war has about 0 seconds of life left to consider their mistake, and you rarely see a T90 or M1A1 sitting around waitig or crew anyway). Ppl all move the same, sometimes the weapons sound very similar, and this is all apart from the fact that in real life ppls eyes aren't affected by LOD (level of detail) that reduces the actual resolution of the image the further away the enemy is in the game. The red name tags compensate for all these factors and others, such as spawning after death where you have to relocate your squad leader from some maybe fairly random spawn location, something dead ppl in real wars don't usually have to worry about .
But anyway, if its for SP I don't see a problem, I am sure somebody knows, have you tried the actual official beta editor forum to see if there is a way to edit the python files to fulfil your desire?

In real life fratricide happens all the time; even more so in BF2...
In BF2 it get's you kicked or banned...
If you only want to play single player, sorry, I think you're stuck. If you plan to play multiplayer eventually, it would really suck to get used to "no names, kill 'em all and let god sort it out" and then have the whole thing change when you play on line, especially after developing the habit of team killing, or I should not developing the critical skill of target Identification before killing.
Hey, sorry if it sounds like a lecture, but I think your expectations are a little off , and you'll be happy in the long run if learn to accept and use the names.
