Having met an RAF chopper crewman who came back from Iraq the day before just last week, I can assure you all that war is NOT fun.

Go easy guys... I think the point he is trying to make is that he would be honored to serve his country and fight for our way of life, and that is a noble thing. However, his choice of words may not be appropriate. War is not "fun", obviously, but a better choice of words might be that it would be "rewarding" or "gratifying" to serve in the armed forces, and make a difference.

At least that's what it sounds to me like he means...

No, I don't get that impression at all, it was only after ppl started criticising him that he took that tack. He genuinely things killing ppl is "fun", as long as a) it's other ppl and, b) he can get away without being charged with any crime.

This is to say the least strange. A person who detests war and death, the murder of children (and I don't care if it is war, you kill a child its murder and you should be held accountable), is described as having "issues".

The impression I get is that Phoenix_CRX wants to go to war so that he can shoot guns at other ppl with no consequences, the honour of fighting for his own country is just an excuse. If he had said, I hate war, but I will still go and fight for my country, OK, I might think of him a little differently. And as for using "real" strategies, there are places where yo can use "real" military strategies without killing ppl, so that's no justification.

No Phoenix_CRX, you are the sort of person who shouldn't be there, so maybe there is some sense to the military selection process after all! :D

Yeah,I would love an WWIII(maybe I´m being a bit...).
I should loved to be as german in WWI or WWII,all that parties,that tanks,that superior space,that wonderful clothes....
But look at how fun should be be shooted at,have to remove the bullet on the battlefield,see just A BIT of gore,people screaming,civilians involved where they wasn´t to be there....
If your army loose,you´ll be arrested,live in a stinking labor camp...
The new weapons,oh yes!Mustard gas at your eyes must be a great feeling,burn with a napalm,that "gay bomb" that someone posted in a thread surely will make you all run to enlist at the army,and the best of all.The atom bomb. I think war awesome,maybe only going to war I should prove I´m not useless or retarded,but...Ah,I don´t know.... What was more dangerous the old wars or the new ones?The old wars like the American Civil war had angry musketons with several bullets and the medicine was sooooo advanced...Althought,the new weapons are very lethal....
Well,at least war breakes the ordinary routine.And don´t need to get so pissed with the boy.take it easy.I know how should be a battlezone.
And last thing,war should be frustating when you see how many widows you made,how many fatherless kids,how many lives was gone....
But at least,its a awesome(a bit) experience to know that you own many people.That till your enemies that are doing nothing when you´re fighting with the death should be gratefull for you saving their asses.That you could be with the other civilians,confortable on your sofa watching your country be conquered,but no!You´re fightning not only to save your life,but also the useless lives of other people that don´t care if you´re dying or is alive.
War is... is.... I can´t describe war.... I´m just an human,I´m not Ares...

Where exactly does he say that? He wants to shoot guns, which I'll agree is fun. He didn't specifically say he wants to shoot them at people.

I do agree that it would NOT be fun to be in a battle, as he says, but I don't see anything about going on a killing spree.

And he also makes a good point, that if we didn't have people who were interested in this stuff we wouldn't have much of a military. Soldiers in America are soldiers by CHOICE. Tell me what motivates them if it's not defending the country in battle? Yeah, it's a morbid profession, but without them what would we do? Face it, we need people like that.

No we don't need people like him who think it is fun .... People who are in the military have fun when they aren't bunkered down getting shot at and shooting at others.

Hmm sounds like he wants to be in a battle and fire real weapons at people. :D
And you saw what happened to that character when he admitted he would commit that same atrocious order of murder again.... He got charged with a dhdc.
