Well then return it, most stores give you atleast a week to return the game and get you're money back.
$50 should buy a finished, polished program. Yeah, it has a lot of features like voip, squads, etc... but if something as simple as stability is traded for fluff like that, that's a problem. Yes, maybe some players don't maintain their boxes and it's their fault the game crashes or lags, but we are customers with a voice and not blind mice. Loyalty only goes so far. It's not fair to use the Battlefield name just to sell games, the game should stand on it's own. Hopefully this one does that.
I'm still holding off on buying this game though until I see patches that help. I'd recommed the same when the exp pack is out too. Let EA know we have standards and expectations.
Least I AIN'T chicken!

You dont even have the game, so you dont know what you're talking about.
I can tell you this, you're missing some great fun.
Plz. continue bitching about something you dont know, you're only dissing yourself.
Besides you could have tried the demo before you bought it and you would have known what the issues were.
Yeah right like the demo really showed what all the problems were!!! get real.
They should concentrate on getting BF2 PLAYABLE before spouting news of an expansion...
and while yes I agree that not all games are perfect when they come out and I can live with that, I can't understand why with the previous experience they had with BF42 didn't teach them something..

Throwing $60 dollars in the garbage or buy Battlefield 2.
..... Hmmm = same difference.
Ever heard of Call of Duty? Return to Castle Wolfenstein? Enemy Territory? etc.. All these games came out with hardly any of the gameplay issues that BF2 has.
I have been on the forums helping ppl since before RTCW came out, and I can tell you there were MANY problems, the RTCW forums were as thick with ppl complaining and asking for help as the BF2 forums are now. Black screens and crash to desktop on startup, unplayable due to lag, can't connect to servers, won't run on my TNT, Virge S3, can't find servers due to dicky game browser, HACKS, OMG the hakzors, the cheaters, the TK'ers , etc, etc, any of that sound familiar? RTCW went through MANY patches, 1.1, 1.3, 1.31, 1.32, 1.33, 1.4, 1.41. . Enemy Territory is built on the already much patched RTCW code base, COD went through 5 patches also, if they were that good on release why so many patches?
Most ppl play these games with no issues (including BF2), so it may have played fine for you, but if you were here helping ppl at the time you would have a different perspective. No game based on an entirely new code base have ever come out with none or few issues, games on a pre-existing code base have far fewer problems than their parent games.
BF2, being the first game on this particular code base, will of course have many problems, and it's a well known fact that no amount of sensible intelligent beta testers can find the bugs and flaws that a single manic 13yo can uncover in a few minutes (no offense to the 13yo's reading this, but I am sure you know what I mean), and that's simply because they are not there LOOKING for bugs, they are testing the included features to make sure they work, thus Beta testing, not bug hunting, also you can't beta test 300,000 ppl all trying to play at once so the server side and stats were bound to be a bit iffy from the start, the same, I recall, happened to RTCW, even up to version 1.31 they were still "addressing server issues", in their parlance.
Many ppl have have long experience of previous multiplayer games, and I, like may of them, believe BF2 is not unusually buggy for a first release. It's how those bugs and problems are addressed that counts. DICE have a good history of releasing patches to fix problems. The revenue generating add-ons, were, in my opinion, a mistake, and probably generated by EA pressuring DICE not to release to much free content, so it's highly unlikely I will be buying the add-on after being sucked in by RtR, also I expect features that are advertised in the add-on to quickly become available in mods.

Running along the plains, swinging buzzsaw hand extensions, cometh Apocalypse_kid! And he gives a gutteral grunt:

That's not true just because a game is $50 doesn't mean anything, that's just how much the publisher decides to sell it for if you don't like paying it for a game that you think isn't worth it, don't pay it! Look at Tribes: Vengeance, they game retailed for $50 in October 2004 and it stayed that way for about 2 months. The game had some bugs, the community was promised a patch by December then it was delayed un till January then March, by April there was still no patch and it was right this time that VUG (the publisher) dropped all support for the game and you can now find it in the bargain bin for $15. That just goes to show that the price does not determine the quality of the game.
