Wow i seem to be pretty lonely about having an actually fine working, not extremely laggy battlefield 2 that does work. Or maybe im just not so easily upset. Think about the pressure put on dice for example. Making a follow up on one of the worlds greatest multiplayer games but still making something completely new, being bound to gamespy (what does gamespy do actually?), and pleasing an entire community of gamers with skyhigh expectations. They didnt have much time but i think they managed pretty good, and whats so bad about patches? People say they dont want to buy an incomplete game, but look how many patches that came out for 1942. I bought the game pretty late so i dont really know about how bad it was at first, but im glad that all the bugs and stuff were taken care of so that the game was pretty much taken care of. There will be patches and since waiting for them a little bit wont hurt you, i think its worth it.

I voted that the patch is crap. It was hard for me to decide as there was no middle ground vote(the 'Rabbit Banana' vote doesn't work for me. choices should have been Good, Ho-hum, and Crap). The patch may have fixed a few things but I can't tell much difference really. My two biggest gripes were not addressed and that is why I voted crap. But looking at it another way I suppose the patch is good. Another way being, that a game is usually out for a while before you see a patch that fixes numerous items that are at issue. Although I have seen patches come out very quickly before that fixed quite a few issues. I have also seen fixes that are in a patch, break other things. Patches are good and bad. For the most part, good or bad, patches are the norm for PC games anymore.

Don't get me wrong just because I voted 'crap'. I think BF2 is a great game and has fewer bugs than BF1942 when it was released. Overall, any patch that makes things better without breaking other stuff is welcome.

----------------------------------------------------

Server browser still needs work. [SYN] hydraSlav, when I click on 'Refresh', it says "Updating Server List" as if I had clicked that button, instead of the 'Refresh' button. (???) And I do believe it updates the entire server list! Just how are you going about seeing if a spot has opened up hdraSlav? Because....

My biggest gripe with the Server Browser is... it still does not refresh a singular server. If I click on a single server that shows it has 56/64 people, it still shows 56/64. It does not update and display 64/64 and show that it is actually full now.

No 'Favorites' list added to the server browser.

I'm not seeing any difference in map load times. It may be the settings I have my game at, namely video settings, and my systems settings. The 'Verifying Client Data' takes the longest and is taking just as long as it did before, as near as I can tell anyway. Not a big deal to me, loading the map and verifying client data takes about 2 minutes or a little less on my system(haven't ever timed it). Still, glad to hear that some of you are getting faster map loading times.

My biggest gripe with a bug in the gameplay is... that sometimes a friendly is colored red as if he is an enemy. This results in TK's and sometimes people getting unjustly kicked off the server for TK'ing. This is a bug that, imo...

1) Should have never made it into the final version of the game.

2) Should have been fixed in the first patch.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I do seem to connect and disconnect to games a little more smoothly and faster now.

Server browser does not hang anymore.

Control bindings fixed.

Patch is good. Fixed things that needed being fixed without any bad side effects. Could have used more fixings to seem more complete, but good job DICE anyway. They delivered.

Loadings don't take a day and another anymore! Sweet!

No, you are certainly not alone. Game works just fine and dandy for a lot of people. In fact, I would imagine that the game works beautifully for the vast majority of folks. I think what you have probably seen is that the loudest vocal group are the ones who have problems. Imagine if you had a problem getting the game to function properly. You'd probably make a bit of noise too! But the vast majority of people get the game to work fine for them and you don't hear from them because they don't have a complaint about trying to get the game running. Look at just how many people you see on here that complain they can't get the game to run on their system. Than look at how many people you see online actually playing the game. Yeah, sure, I'm certain there are a lot of other forums with people that have a problem with the game, besides just this forum, and they post about it on there.

Still, the vast majority of people install and run the game with little if any trouble and don't have any complaint(about getting the game to run) to post. People that have trouble getting the game to run(acceptably or at all) are the ones who will post about the problems they are having. I can't say that I blame them as I know I would too!
