PLA weapons....

So China use AKs for assault and medic right?. Well how realistic is this? i thought the chinese infantry weapon was a rifle of some such called type 90-somthing. Does the chinese army still use AKs today?

Yea I dont think that they use AK's either.I could see someone like MEC having ak's because you see them all the time in iraq but for china i dont think so. Especially if this is "MODERN COMBAT"(Correct me if im wrong because im not sure either)

Re: PLA weapons....

Type 95 Assault Rifle is latest assault rifle in service. The Type 95 also offers a squad machine gun variant, both are featured in the game.

The Chinese also have a few variants on the AK-47, the first and almost exact copy of the AK-47 is the Type 56. The Type 56 was produced in huge numbers and some of the Type 56s are still in service. However the Type 81 Assault Rifle replaced the Type 56 and has been in service since the early 80s. The Type 81 like the Type 95 (which is replacing the Type 81) offers an assault and squad machine gun variant.

Now that all that is said, although the Type 56 (AK-47 essentially) is still in service the Type 81 would have been a better choice to use as the medics standard weapon although changing the name from AK-47 to Type 56 would make me happy.

Ive read that the Chineese military is underfunded wel it does have the world large military force and the ak is cheap to make so it makes sense

Re: PLA weapons....

My friend has an ak and m-16, both with 3 shot capability since fully auto is pretty illegal. Well the ak-47's recoil is so bad it will nearly fly out of your hands, as the m-16 feels almost like shooting a .22 in 3 shot bursts. I'd rather have control over caliber anyday.

Re: PLA weapons....

Perhaps, but it all depends upon the situation and how a military is run. Chine and the U.S. are two very different militaries with different needs.

Re: PLA weapons....

The AK-47 uses 7.62 Calibre round and is less acurate and has way more recoil compared to the M-16 which uses the 5.56 Calibre round. On the other hand the AK-47 is indeed more powerful and is far more reliable then the M-16 when used in some of the worst conditions. Even today the AK-47 cas a lower rate of jamming then the M-16, as far as I know an M-16 has a 4 times greater chance of jamming then an AK-47. I do know the Chinese had mass produced the Type 56 and had outfited the Chinese military with it in the 80s so I wouldn't doubt the fact that the modern Chinese Army would still use the Type 56, however BF2 uses the Type 56 with the full wooden stock and as far as I know the Chinese more comonly used the Type 56 with a fold out stock? Not fully sure on this though.

Re: PLA weapons....

I'm rather miffed by some of the weapon and vehicle choices in the game, and not just for China. Yea, I find it stupid that the Chinese have the AK-47. They would at least have the Type 81, which is out-wardly similar to the AK-47.
And why does the MEC have the T-90? That tank is almost exclusively in service with the Chinese. Even the Russians don't field many of them. Then there's the Mi-28 'Havok'. Why would that be in use? The Mil Mi-28 competed against Kamov Ka-50 'Hokum' for Russia's next attack helicopter and lost. The Ka-50 was a single-seater, though a 2-seater version (the Ka-52 'Alligator') was later intruduced.

Re: PLA weapons....

And what's with the PP-19 Bizon only having 45 rounds? Only the 7.62mm version has 45 rounds, and the game clearly states in several places it is the 9mm version, so it should have 64 rounds.

Balance. Balance. Balance. Thats all that can be said about all these "inaccuracies" you find. They are all quite correct, balance wise.

Sounds like some good Mod Ideas

FH for bf42

These all sound good for a mod. In a few months I see a realistic based mod may be in development.

Except FH deals with WWII. The stuff we're talking about is in regards to the modern equipment. Something like DC Realism would probably be a better mod to talk about in this thread.
