"Official" BF2 complaint Thread OK i have a few complaints about it. 1. Graphics are jumpy laggy even at medium / a few high settings on my ATI 9800 pro 256mb/bit. 2. Dynamic shadows are crap, they look pixelated and they Flash and just plain look like crap. 3. IT RUNS LIKE CRAP ON ANY SYSTEM. 4. the server broswer is jumpy and the game crashes alot. My specs arnt the best but come on!! i run Doom3 and HL2 and top graphics MUCH MUCH MUCH!!!!! smoother than this game at low graphics... Thank you for another horrible inovation in gaming DICE. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Regarding point 3 HOW WOULD YOU KNOW! All you have done is play it on your system, Away back to HL2 and Doom3 then BF2 runs smoth on my AMD 2 GHz 64 bit processor, 512mb of ram and a GeForce FX 5600XT on low settings. Mabe it was the server you were on. Ive been on a few 64 player servers and its been smooth bar 1 time when everybody on the server was getting lag. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Ok. My complaint: the key bindings. Its so annoying to actually customize them the way you want them, and sometimes you can't even bind a certain action to a certain key, even though the key isn't to be found anywhere else. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Ok #2 because almost everyone i talked to says they cant put it on high settings, even on a OCed Geforce 6800!!!!!! and also i have those same specs, cept i have a ATI 9800 pro and i can play Doom3 and HL2 at top settings and they kinda look better than this game to, but for some wierd reason i, and no one else seems to be able to max their stuff out, the only one person who i have heard being able to do this was a guy with DUAL Geforce 6800 pro's on PCIe and he said it still didnt even look good.... lol well what ever, i lowered my video settings all to medium, and it runs smooth now, but still looks t3h crappy, ESPECIALLY the damn Dynamic shadows, they are all pixelated and stuff |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Quote:
If this feature is in the retail version the game won`t be worth the diskspace. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread gameplay > graphics bf2 has great gameplay |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread AMD 64 Bit 3500 1 Gig Corsair XMS Dual Channel ram (2 x 512MB) 6600GT AGP 8x I run it on max everything and not a bit of lag. The only complaint that i have is the choppers rotate very slowly. no circle of deaths :-( Gunny. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread I have no idea what you guys are talking about not being able to run the game on high. I've been running everything on high with no problem Perhaps you should not be so quick to blame EA for a problem that could possibly be with your PC. |

Demo Demo Demo Any one remember the demo for Bf 1942 That sucked ass horrible everything. Anyone remember Bfv? (Bad example that still sucks ass) Lol the way I see it. EA put this shitty demo out to lower our expectations and then blow us away with the real game I just have to keep telling myself that (Not another bfv not again PLZ EA) The release will be better..... ALOT better right? My complaint (for the demo) Wow thats bad choice of music, I really miss the old bf 42 music... I dont know why but that is the best theme music (In my opionion) I also find the mouse controls odd. I dont know why. As for all of the ones in the Quote I agree but wait patently for the release. If this game sucks I am going to buy Bf 1942 (my disc broke) and I will never have to complain about another game again. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Quote:
1) Medium for your vid card, you have nowhere near the vid card needed to run on high! 2) Drivers. This probem has been reported by other ppl with ATI vid cards and it was as driver problem specific to some ATI drivers. 3) Runs great on mine with everything down low except view distance and textures, I have a FX5600. Other ppl have it running well. 4) OK, point conceded, it does this for me to, will get fixed in a patch I expect. As far as comparing BF2 to HL2 and Doom3, I see this all the time. If HL2 and Doom 3 had dozens of vehicles running around, 32-64 players, huuuuge levels (the ones in doom3 and hl2 are teeny) it would run as bad or much worse than BF2 on your system. You are comparing two completely different genres of game, a claustrophobic FPS's with small levels, corridors and small rooms as the biggest open space and 1 player and a few AI, with a vast panoramic battlefield environment with large numbers of players and multiple vehicles. The closest game that compares with BF2 is Soldner and ppl make exactly the same complaints and comparisons. Do not compare apples and grapefruits, compare apples and apples and see which one tastes better. AK :smokin: |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Before people start off in this thread about how innaccurate/weak the guns are, try using ironsites and single shot mode from a prone/crouched position, you will find you will be much more effective. Also, the sniper rifle is just as good as it was in the other BF games, you just arent used to it yet. :D Even the pistol can be quite deadly if used properly. |

now, its no wear near as bad |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Hmm, if this is all the responce we get in the rants and raves "official" complaint thread then DICE haven't done to bad a job. I still don't like the global sign on system though! AK :smokin: |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread I have to admit, the game runs somewhat laggy even on great ping and my good system 3.4 GHZ P4 1 GB DDR2 RAM at 533 mhz Nvidia 6800 256mb PCIe that should run the game well but it has to load the start menu, and i cannot quit right out of the game, i have to wait a few seconds. The shadows are complete shit so i got those down and i only go to low ping servers. Overall it is a pretty sweet gameplay, there is something awesome about joining your squad of 6 attack the apartment building to the right when a chopper comes in and clears the way ;) |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread My complaint. It has a fatal flaw. And what is this fatal flaw you say... Gamespy, in order to play online you have to make an account with them. For this reason although I enjoyed the demo I will not, at any price, even if it is free, ever own a copy of BF2. Congratulations morons, because you can't be bothered to make your own code you're going to lose sales. You don't need my email address so that I can play an online game, I didn't need one with UT and I shouldn't need to give you one here either. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread What does it matter to sign up for gamespy? An email everynow and then that you can force to your spam folder? You know Sloth is a mortal sin... And as for comparing BF2 gfx to HL2 and Doom 3. D3's graphics are so damn good that there was no way to have any large environment, hence the hallways. HL's outdoor maps were pretty damn big, and they would run great all the time. I mean the buggy level? Cmon, it isn't that small. Also take a look at Everquest 2. The maps are bigger than BF2, all while provding better graphics. That said, my gripes: 1. Graphics didn't live up to hype, still looks like a BF1942 with dynamic lighting and better modelers (this isn't a huge deal with me, i prefer gameplay over graphics, just stating it didnt live up to its HYPE.) 2. Physics are horrid. Also notice how real physics make the graphics appear to be better? In HL2 it did, made it seem more realistic. 3. Squads aren't that great. 4. The noobs that play. |

Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread The only problem I have is that where ever I tried to get it off of it takes forever! Well it is the 3rd day of downloading, hopefully I can play today. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Download via Bittorrent. I downloaded it saturday morning and it tooke less than 30 minutes. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Quote:
One of my complaints : grenades can kill tanks.. yeah right. That was possible in WW2 (unless were talking about completely crap tanks), now its even more ridiculous in modern war (omgz!!1 My Abr4mz got pwnz by teh grenadez) |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Quote:
Yes, but this is an Arcade type game and it can help, if you face a tank and your on a roof, just chuck loads of nades and hide behind something, if it wasn't like that, everyone would get in tanks and never come out. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Anti-tank class is there for a reason. Tanks should be fear, these are extremely armored warmachines worth millions, not plastic toys. It is such an athmosphere killer when you see a 68 ton M1a2 getting killed by 10 puny grenades (IRL these wouldn't even scratch the paint). Making tanks immune to grenades won't make them "overpower", it will just force players to use something called "tactics" and call for reinforcements or use the squads AT weapon while taking cover . I know very well that this game is meant to be arcade, this is why I won't buy it before mods like FH2, Red Crucible and others make their first release, but still I would have liked to a small hint of realism. At least the game will make a fantastic base for mods. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Quote:
Other than that and the fact no one listens to the commander its good. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Wierd that your 6800's FPS count is that lower than mine (I have a X800XT-PE). Especially since its a "nvidia, the way it's meant to be played" game.. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Meh, IMO that's mostly just a marketing gimmick, more to do with ensuring compatibility than with frame rate. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Quote:
The reason I bought was the price was good($300), it supports Pixel shader 3.0 and the company offers a life time warrenty. This thing is great in all my other games except Hl2 TDM(that is a CPU hog) and the BF2 demo. I did find I had texture filtering at high so i turned it to medium and got about 30fps but it was slow. Now I have it at low with 2x AA. I am not sure though, it was around 5fps last night but that may have been massive lag:lookaround:. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Quote:
A) Though my laptop meets all recommened (not minimum!) specs my grahpics cart is inferior. I use a ATI Mobility Radeon 7500C and the bloody bastards decided to only support the 8000 series and above. Stupid marketing trick, the game could play on a 7500 if they wanted to, perhaps not with all the special effect sbut who cares? Never ever let yourseld be sponsored by a graphicscard produser, money hungry Bastards! http://forums.filefront.com/images/smilies/madx.gif B) Gayspy, no way i'm ever going to make an account there. Though i silently pray i won't need it for the full BF2 or atleast for unofficial (clan) servers hosting FH2 for BF2. :moon: C) It doesn't support all characters it should support: normal everyday characters like the ä/ë/ö/ß/ø or not supported. :uhm: We don't all live in the states, there are other countries you know, ever thought of EUropean countries having a good number of "additional" characters? :uhoh: Good job EA, you just lost an other potential customer. |

Oh and that with fancy characters it would be harder for admins to ban people, though they could just enter the player ID or select the player to kick him.. besides going that road you might aswell ban everything past 5 characters because else the poor old admins can't remember the name. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread It supports the ATI 9000 but not the 9200... EDIT: OK, looking at this page (Googled 9200 BF2), it seems like it does work... Will have another look around... |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread This rant, for now, only applies to the demo, but the graphics engine is kind of weak. It seems like choppy code. I have a pretty good system, and I expected a little better performance. This rant is for BF2 and PLENTY of other games. WHY THE F#1K CAN'T ANYONE RENDER FOLIAGE! We've been seeing grass and trees for DECADES! It's not NEW! Why can't anyone seem to get something as simple as a palm tree to LOOK like a palm tree? |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Well the amount of power required to render decent looking foliage in real time is actually quite substantial, so it's mostly a hardware concern. That said we are approaching a level where we can begin to create some rather decent looking trees and the like now. I grew up playing Quake, Xcom, stuff like that, and the progress we've made in just a few years from really blocky textures and the like is amazing. Give it five, maybe ten years and you probably won't be able to tell it's not real. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread You could make a point about that in the past, but I can't be convinced of that now. I got in on the ground floor of gaming in it's infancy. If they can give me Doom 3 and they can give me HL2 then they can give me a decent looking tree today. The demo BF2 "trees" look positively absurd. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Sure, if they wanted to spend three quarters of their polygon budget on trees rather than on people maybe they could. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread amd athlon 64 processor 3000+ 2.00ghz-1mb of ram(ddr) radeon 9800pro 128mb 2 meg internet connection and this runs the demo as smooth as a babys bum on high settings ---------you say ur cooler than a noob???-------- ---------you also quoted this game dont run good on any p.c????----- A BAD TRADESMANS ALWAYS BLAMES HIS TOOLS----DONT FORGET THAT |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Thats even after you installed the game you get a blank screen... then crashes back to the desk top.... Alot of people are having trouble with this.... G i can't wait to get the game in 6 days to only to have to go home and install it and o the game to crash... I think it's going to be another BV crap. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread What ress. do you use 1280 x 960 @85hz med settings runs fine when u press high setting 2 stay on med and 1024 x 768 @60hz if u change those 2 to high it kills the frame rate The game overall is fine but they could do with tweaking the weapons a bit more dam. and acc. would do fine and yes i can aim Have you played AA way better weap. and acc. in that My sys is fine to 3000+ 1 gb ram 6800 128 mb audigy 2zs although i cant stand the drivers they created 77.30 they are rubbish but this is why they release demos right so we can try them out and they can fix the finished product although this never happened with Novalogics Joint ops games there servers are pretty dead now so hopefully bf2 will live up to its name Now hopefully they are listening to everthing we are saying and fix the game i dont want another paper weight when bf2 comes out! |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Not being able to use certain keys when remapping them is ridiculous. Even after clearing every key slot, it still tells me "Duplicate key found" blah blah blah. Only the 16 player maps in Singleplayer? Why not the 64 player map options. I want to fly and be able to maneuver too. No CO-OP? Come on. Machine gun fire sprays like crazy. Standing approximately 5 feet from a wall and firing rounds fully auto or sustained, DO NOT HIT 20 FEET TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT! Other than that pretty good! Sometimes makes me want to play DC again though. lol |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread This is more of an EA Games complaint. When I ordered BFV, I did so straight from EA Games, and had it in my hands 9 AM on the day it was released. So Logically I figured I'd do the same with BF2, and get the same results. WRONG!!! I just checked my order status thru their website, and it still just says "ordered" And I check my credit card, thinking they just hadn't updated their website. Well they haven't even charged my card yet, which means they still haven't shipped my game. I have friends who pre-ordered their copy from EB Games, and got theirs yesterday. And here I sit, having pre-ordered back on April 5th from the maker of the game, and at the end of the business day on the release date and mine hasn't even been processed. So needless to say I am very F***ING PISSED OFF!!!!! Thanks EA, great customer service, Rotten Bastards. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread Like I've said before, you can't type non-english alphabetics in BF2, http://forums.filefront.com/images/smilies/curse.gif it sucks, other thing I don't like you can swim forever. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread The demo runs fine on my machine and I only have mid-low end components. Ya'll should check out IGN's guide to prepping your system for BF2 if you're having any issues with running the demo. The only things that I find wrong with the actual game is that it takes awhile to customize all the controls how you want them and that the server browser is a bit on the buggy side. |

Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread A fantastic base for mods, if the editor is actually released that is lol... Till then even a simple mod that is distributable is a real difficult thing to do. I am quite sad about the following things myself after picking up the full game.. 1. I was looking forward to coop on my lan. This has been made more difficult to do since you can only join an IP. Also, everytime we change the map we have to all reconnect, yucky. At least it was not removed completely or alot of people would have been furious, especially cause we just bought a bunch of copies at once, specifically to play over the lan with bots.. 2. I was looking forward to the editor and making mods. This has been delayed now twice, I read as a result of the difficulty in implementing the AI tools. I can only hope it is released as promised at the end of the month, so we can start to get some cool new stuff going on with this game. 3. They decided to focus the game more to the online multiplayer. I usually get irritated with online games because they are full of people who play the game all the time, and its not very much fun if you get spawn camped and pawned all the time. No fps games are usually designed so that people who play all the time and those who play a few hours here and there can jump in a game and actually take each other out equally. The veterans always have major advantages. So after I have said to myself "that wasn't fair at all" more than 3 times, I usually go singleplayer. Im just not interested in dealing with some of the goons online either. 4. I have some minor graphic issues for example, the undergrowth in the game appears to 'grow' out of the ground rather than fade in as it comes into view. It looks very strange lol, but I am willing to accept them because I am sure that its only happening because I have settings turned down for performance. Overall, I have been looking forward to this game, and I hope that it doesnt die like BFV supposedly has in the mod community. The editor delay has me worried though, but if it is as awsome as it looks. We are all going to be having alot more fun with this game. :) |

Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread The only real complaint that i have that makes me extreamly pissed off alot is this "punish" system. People can just punish you for accidental TKs and alot of times i have punished someone without knowing. Someone TKs me and i dont even see the message pop up. It's really stupid how this new TK preventor is working out. If there is going to be a TK preventor to make it where you KILL an EMEMY you get points taken away. That is just lame as hell. Take away say 5 points off your total score and if you get -10 points or more on a server THEN you get kick/ban. I got kicked off a server for being good at killing people cause of one person didnt press anything, not page up or page down. They really need to work through these kinks in this new TK preventor. I have lost many rank points because of this factor. Other wise i love this game to it's fullest. |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread My biggest complaint so far is... If I click on a particular server, it does not refresh that server and tell me how many players are on it at that moment. I try to join and get the message that the server is full. After dropping me right back to the server browser, then it has updated how many people are on it. Example: I click on a server that says it has 56/64 players. I do this several times over a period of a couple of minutes. It still shows as having 56 people. I click Join and it says the server is full and now it shows that there are 64 people on it. http://forums.filefront.com/images/s...rcastic%29.gif |
Re: "Official" BF2 complaint Thread This game may have many problems right now with server browser etc..... but if you remember 1.0 BF1942 server browser sucked. We just need small patches to fix these small pet peeves of ours. |
