Maybe he was dead before he hit the ground. The SAW shoots a 5.56 round and it isnt powerful. Infantry weapons these days are designed to injure or disable other infantry. The have a high rate of fire and depend on lots of infantry shooting in the same direction. In WW2 armys were shooting at each other from further away. This encouraged aiming and skill with a firearm. An average 5.56 cartridge shoots a 60-65 grain bullet at 3100'/sec and at 100 yards produces 979 lbs of energy ( that is the SAW ) An average 7.62 round 165-170 grain bullet travels at 2700'/sec and has 2306 LBS of energy at 100 yards. So one is like being run over with a scooter and the other is like being hit by a truck.

If you shot some one in the hand once or twice he wouldn't have a hand anymore DA.

Yes but BF2 is not doing area specific damage, ie: if you get shot in foot you limp, only an area specific hitbox, more damage from a headshot than a footshot, so yo ucoul dtake several hits to hand or foot and not die.

Running along the plains, swinging buzzsaw hand extensions, cometh Apocalypse_kid! And he gives a gutteral grunt:
"In the name of malice, I will bend the enemy to my wicked will!"
That may be true. But if you were shot in the hand once, even with a side arm, you would lose lots of HAND.

IMHO they can make BF2 as arcady and as fun as they want, just keep supporting the mods like they seem to be going all out to do in BF2. That way fun for everybody.
Also I have seen some BF2 footage in gameplay where a guy dropped some enemies with short bursts of his SAW so I guess t depends on teh shooter and whether the target might have had ballistic armor on.
