Is that a suggestion for performance enhancements, or is that a problem? I'm not quite sure what you are talking about, but if you have any suggestions for a Radeon card, i have a friend who has one, and says his game really sux using it. i'm not sure of the model, i think it's 9700, the 64MB ddr one. Anyhow, any suggestions you might be able to give would be worth a shot. I would go over there and fix it myself, but, well, you kinda get tired of doing that for people after a while.

Lightbulb ATI cards

I've also had problems with ATI cards. The FAQ says BF needs a 32mb card to run (confirmed... not brilliant but it works on my all-in-wonder 32mb).

I had some problems running it at home though on an older radeon 64mb DDR (genuine ATI, not powered). I paid about £150 for this card about 2 years ago so I wasn't impressed. Even the catalyst drivers wouldn't fix the problem. Then I read somewhere that if you change your desktop resolution in win2k to match the resolution you run the game in it might fix the problem because it's not changing modes. I tried that and it actually worked

It wasn't brilliant though so I bought a new budget card (Saphire radeon 9000 pro) which works surprisingly well for the price.

--Edit--

That should have read at least a 32mb card. Hope I didn't confuse ppl. The saph is another 64mb card and the difference between that and the older ATI 64mb card is incredible.

I use a Radeon 8500LE 128MB and my game runs great under win2K Proffessional. Screen Shots

You are right about the patch from ATI, it is even stated in the EA readme that there were some troubles reported using some ATI cards, but that EA by the time the game launched would already have the trouble addressed with this patch, and they did.

The new Catalyst drivers offer up better performance settigns in different areas in the display settings/advnaced menus.

You can get the Version: 5.13.01.6166 here.

If you have any trouble with other items or further trouble getting a card higher than 32MB {which the game does run better on certain cards with more RAM and EA does not mean that the game only plays well on 32Meg cards), You can browse through and read a Battlefiled Troubleshooting Guide on a site I have posted it to. It is direct from EA support.

Good luck... Radeon cards are actually above normal performance cards with the new releases and is top dog again. So dont give up on a card just becuase it wont perform up to expectations right out of the box, this is where the "PC World" takes hold, where you get what you pay for and more. You just have to find it. :

I found that running with view distance to 50 percent helps your FPS. I run with custom video settings with 2 highs no shadows, light maps, and others. I run very smooth with an oc GF2mx400. If i had the money id spend it on a GF4 a real hardcore gamers card.
