lag and sound problems with BF 1942

I have a new computer. It is an HP with the following:
Althlon XP 2800 2.08 ghz
768 RAM
Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 Ultra 128 MB
Creative SB Audigy Gamer

I installed the additional ram and upgraded the video/sound cards from my old computer. I have never really had a problem with lag and sound before with my old computer. I was wondering if this is a driver problem (I have been to both Creative and NVIDIA and resceived the latest drivers) or is it a problem with the new upgrade to BF 1942 and Desert Command.
