When in the world are they going to get around to including this elemental fighter?! I have heard for the last 3 patches that it would be incorporated, but alas, nothing! WTF? I promise you this though, if and when they do include the F-14, you will want to clear the skies, because I will devote the rest of my young life to learning and mastering it in every aspect! :frog: ...

heh, i just want my fighter...is that so much to ask?






p.s. In the new patch the stinger, does almost no damage to infantry...WTF?... are they trying to tell me that a stinger to the face wouldn't ruin your day??????? Bah! :uhoh:

Well I won't tell ya that at all, having had plenty of stingers in the face, but the reason they changed it is simple, the stinger is NOT an anti-personel weapon, in real war they are simpply to valuable to use like that, and a soldier couldn't carry enough around to be of any effective use on a ground campaign anyway. Granted this is not real war, just a game, but the DC ppl probably wanted ppl to use the stinger for the purpose it was intended, not a super duper, in-your-face anti-personal zap gun. My feeling is they should have let the soldier carry 1 stinger and then they had to get resupplied.

I would have to agree A.K. the stinger was way too easy to use against infantry before this latest patch. But I think you may be on to something with the even more limited ammo issue.. like the one shot like you said.. then they could potentially re-up the damage value given to a direct on shot to infantry with a stinger. Make it very unpredictable at straight on shooting, so it would actually take some skill to hit a soldier... and with the limited ammo it would make the player choose if this single soldier (that he has not much chance of hitting with this anti-air munition) is worth more than the huey flying overhead with 3 or more passengers prospectivly.

I'm rambling and that prob made no sense..

No that made perfect sense, and is exactly what I meant, but I couldn't be bothered typing it all in. I would post my suggestions to the DC forums but you have to create a gamespy account to use their forums, and I aint going to do that. Call me prejudice if you will, but I just don't like gamespy :lol:

2nd Rangers... My favorite squadron is the Grim Reapers.. just cause I got to sit in one of thier Tomcats and tour their barracks aboard a carrier! It was freakin sweet!

I will be sad soon, because we are losing our Tomcats in real life and replacing them with the F18 SuperHornet...

Hi DC2002,

I quite often go to Tom's Hardware Guide for stuff like that. He has a review here comparing the 5900 PRO to the ATI 9800 PRO (but only 128Mb - however my understanding it is doesn't make a lot of difference unless you are running at stupidly high resolutions).

Also HardOCP has a review of the two together. Performance wise the 5900 seems to have the edge.

Graphics in what way? You may be better off looking for multi-monitor support as well (of course most vid cards these days have 2 outputs, but the impprtant one is a DVI out not a TV out. If you are doing 2D graphics these cards won't change much, most video cards have basic 2D engine that is virtually unchanged since the days of the original TNT2's. If you are learning a particular application (ie: MAYA or 3DS MAX) then look for reviews that feature rendering benchmarks from these or similar programs.

Yes F14s are very nice. They have been in service since '72 thats more than 30yrs. of service. Not many combat planes see that many years of service. Track six targets at once is a very wicked ability. I belive that the super hornet will live up to it's capability.

By the way.....my girlfriend's Dad fabricates(builds) F16 cockpits.

it tracks 24 at a time but can engage only 6 from a range of 90 miles carrying the aim 94 phoenix missile. the f-14 is by far the best peice of hardware ever put into service and its radar will NEVER BE TOPPED by any other combat fighter plane in the near future with a radar of 180 nm its the best you can get these days!

Dunno about that, the F-22 (prototype), F-35 (in development), S-37 and Su-37 is expected to be the best planes in the list.

Yea but the radar they house isn't up to par with the tomcat's. Those other planes will totaly out perform the tomcat. But the radar of a tomcat is close to a AWACS.

LOLOLOL i got mixed up! sorry bout that. and Soujiro, how in the work are they going to be able to fit in all of the planes, lets say in el almien? it'll be a massive airfield! and in wake or midway? 3 carriers at least!!! it'll be the noob land if this happens! lol

Is the F14 a moduler built aircraft. I know the Hornet is, thats why it's so easy to upgrade. My boss here at work was in the Navy for 35yrs. He has ginven me some juicy info on the fighter that he worked on.

I'm not going to jump on the HL2 trip just yet. I'll wait a while till the hype dies down. That will probly be about a year after it's release. I did the same with BF42.



Anyways......did the tomcat have Pratt&Whittney engines, or General Electric. I was talkin to a buddy last night and we could'nt figure out. I know it was made by Grumman.

I belive the later Tomcats have General Electric like the f-14b and f-14d and the early verions Pratt&Whittney engines f-14A.
I was also at the airshow in Atlantic city yesterday the frist one in a 90 years there and my 105th one a been too.It had a good line up of demos I was really looking forward to the F-14 super Tomcat,F-15 and the b-17.The Thunderbirds were also there but after seeing them so many times its the same thing The f-16 was putting on a good demo about 3mins in it flew away. But 1min after I found out it sucked in a seagal :furious: Dumb birds.At the end of the show the f-14 came it did a great demo! And if any of you been to a airshow they have spakers set up too talk to you about the plane and stuff and too tell you what its going to do next. I herd the guy said he would get low to the water and make the water to shoot up in the air like this:

I ran up to the shore line and got my video camera ready he came by and did not do it. I found out there were too many birds in the area. :furious: Again the birds mess things up. I had a good time even though I hate the beach. I may try to upload the video i have so you people can see it.

OK thanks for clearing that up. Thats what was so confusing were the early and the latter models.

Yea Grimreapers are cool.... I saw The JSF and plan to see it again Lockheed made a great plane! I well see it at NAS Oceana Airshow Tomcat central the JSF well be a staic display.Check six!

Navy F-14 pilots speak vividly about the SuperHornet (in an Associated Press article in late 2001):

i wont believe any1 who says thats real!@ lol - a plane that big is porhibitted to be that low, its a a 90% to 10% that he'll come out of it, and second of all - look at the water, and look at how cimetric the water shooting up is!

Amen brother! I think the whole thing with the F18 that they gain, is easier maintenance, and fly by wire controls. The problem is that they give up the speed, range, firepower and coolness of the F-14! I don't think it's a fair trade.

The first F-14's were grossly underpowered, and had to refuel way too soon after take off, because they had to take off on full afterburner. They switched engines to address this problem in the -b to -d variants.

I've only seen the F-14 in flight once. It wasn't a demo.. it was in Victoria, B.C. and they were stationed in SanDiego. They were supposed to do a demo, but got called back for some official purpose or something. They did do something amazing though... took off in formation (3 of them) on full afterburner.. verticle take off.. were gone in like 5 seconds!!!! :eek: ..WOW... it was amazing.. they said they would be back in San Diego in like an hour!

YEP that's a drawing. Saw it at an airshow the guy who sold them said that it's a mix of comp. animation, and drawing. The B1 is able to operate at those low(maybe not that low) alttitudes. Thats is it's main roll (low level flight and bombing) They can operate at altittudes of 100-500ft. Sub sonic.(450-600MPH.)!! NUTZ what a rush :rock: I have a tape here at the house that talks about the B1, B52, and the B2, but that was before that B2 went into service.

i love flying low! especially in vannila! (non-moded bf). but in dc with the f16 its pretty fun running people over! and btw - i love flying low with the choppers too, also knocking down a few people!

this happend to me a few days ago without noticing - i was flying sideways with the apache, pretty fast pretty low, over the gazala airfield, and suddenly i hear *pak pak pak" LOL - hit three people, accidently. but after that i just hit the ground cuz i was too low and flipped over :p but i did manage to get out and snipe 2-3 people
