JoySticks - Which is best for BattleField? Which JoyStick is everyone using to assault their enemey in BattleField?? Thanks! |
I have a logitech assaultII stick. I dont love it but I had a really hard time finding something with WINXP drivers. I actually went through 2 sticks and 2 control pads before I found one. Honestly I rarely use it, airfields are usually so camped in this game I dont usually bother trying to get an aircraft. I can bomb and strafe just fine with keypad/mouse, the ONLY thing I find the stick good for is dog fighting. Your just not able to go vertical or inverted with a mouse. edit* I think MOST people that use sticks go with the stick in right hand and keypad in the left. |
Here how about this... Really, any joystick workx, as long as it has at least 2 axis', and 2 buttons, cuz thats what I use and its fine! But for all of you ppl who are just now trying out the recording program Fraps! If u are getting really laggy when u start recording! Unplug the joystick! Im serious! I did! and theres no more lag! Lag free movies! and make sure to set fps to 20 in the Fraps window! So it doesnt go all fast! okay bye! |
microsoft sidewinder percision 2 joystick i have a microsoft sidewinder percision 2 joystick and it do not work... :( |
i have a microsoft percision 2 and it works perfect. I would'nt use anything else |
I use mouse to shoot and to control the plane and keyboard to fly. Never had a JS and i dont see the need for one. |
I also have a Microsoft Precision 2 and after some driver tweaking it worked fine and i love flying, i now consider the engineer kit my pilot gear. |
use precision 2 i love it |
mine is a sidewinder and its cool.and 4 all the peeps that say they dont need one try flying a chopper without one bet you dont last long LOL |
Thrustmaster Topgun Afterburner is my personal favorite, cant afford a Hotas. |
use a logitech wingman extreme digital 3d and it's ok. i also have a microsoft force feedback 2 and it's pretty good too. |
Oh my you are in need for some enlightenment my friend. The best joystick or gamepad to play a First Person Shooter is none. No controller can give you better control and accuracy than a keyboard and mouse. Even in flying, its much much easier and better to fly with the keyboard and mouse. Please stay away from extra controllers unless you want to be a copy of those sad console gamers. |
theres nothin wrong with console gamers. just pc'ers that use that cheap spinoff of a PS2 controler |
keyboard and mouse for me. i play with bots using minimum cpu time and skill so their my moving pop up targets. i would play online but i can't join any servers because something is messed up with battlefield but i don't really care because how much fun can you have with a 56k modem? jeez, i hope i will have dsl soon :uhoh: |
Don’t use one, you don’t need it. You fly better without one. Also, who said something about a cheap PS controller rip off? Do you mean this? http://www.gravis.com/products/pro_eli_d1019.html I have one and it is not cheap, best controller for emulation. It workes great for older games like things on the SNES or GB. |
You don't need a Joystick to fly in bf1942 but if you want to be good you better get one, i recommend the Cyborg 3D Gold. |
I flew for the first few weeks with the keyboard and mouse before I finally got around to hooking up my cyborg stick. Those that claim you can fly better with the keyboard probably havent used the joystick enough. I didnt like it at first but soon you realize what better control it gives you. Makes it feel alot more like actually flying as well,IMHO. I broke my cyborg soon after hooking it up so I replaced it with a logitech freedom 2.4 cordless. This stick is so sweet!!! A pure joy to fly with. And did I mention cordless? |

Actually a lot of PC gamers still use the Gravis Gamepad Pro to play sports games and stuff. I use one with NHL2003 and am always one of the top players in my leagues. so no it does not suck, it just looks like it sucks. |
Well I use Microsoft Sidewinder Forcefeed back 2........it's the best out there.... |
i hate consoles, pc's will always be better....no contest. |
i agree with Pvt_Zab. i played on consles for a while but then i got my hands on a pc and i never went back. |
How do you set up the Joy in BF/DC/RtR ? I have a Micro$soft Sidewinder Precision 2 |
Re: JoySticks - Which is best for BattleField? hahas you guys are all noobs... (jk) obviously the best stick for this kind of action is a Saitek X-45 planes that is... the choppers are best with mouse and keyboard... as for console controllers... consoles were built with digital inputs in mind and so are most games... a console doesent support analog input as well as a pc does, hence all analog console controllers are much cheaper then their pc counterparts. as for the ps2 controller it can be used on pc as well as most other console controllers. if the store deosent sell any adapters u can mak one yourself off one of the many schematics u can find online. to the ps2 pad enthausiast: the only reason ure pad hasnt let you down yet is because ps2 games dont ask for much in the way of analog control. the games are all more of an arcade style nature... hook ure pad up to a pc and try to play any half-way realistic flying or driving game and you will be wanting an analog controller ... as for battlefield... it was made with mouse and keyboard in mind and as such has great support for analog input. what u realy need here is a stick with a good large movement area, the bigger the swing, the bigger the precision. i personaly think that ure better off with a stick when flying planes, especialy the jets of DC. helicopters on the other hand... i have found it quite easy to become skilled with mouse and keyboard... although i have it set up in an unnatural way: i have the ciclyc on my mouse for pitch and keyboard left and right keys for roll and then i have rudder controll on my mouse again, and collective on the keyboard up and down keys. its not very realistic but it has allowed me to lern to do anything upto and including landing in hotzones (although i havent perfected my landings yet) in a matter of hours. i havent tryed helis on stick yet... but i doubt it will be as comfortable as the mouse and keyboard. back to sticks: i have recently bought a Logitech Force 3d and it SUUUUUUUCKS!!!! if any of u are considering buying this, DONT! get the non FF model (mentioned above)instead... seriously the difference is huge. i went back the next day and changed it for a Saitek X-45 wich in my oppinion can be considerd the mayor of sticktown. |
