Mc 4.0

Since the bad news of Dice/Ea shutting down client side mods i was wondering what will happen to MC 4.0? I have heard good things about this mod and recently been told they were working on sound fx and other things. I can understand that dice wants to put an end to cheating but killing a mod like merciless creations is just plain wrong. What will be come of MC? Will 4.0 be released or is it on hold for the time being?

I think they'll do one of two things:

A) If we win and EA/Dice doesn't lock client-side mods, it will be a normal release.

B) If we lose and EA/Dice do lock down client-side mods, it will become a server side mod. However this would mean you could use only Merciless skins and packs, and not use any other custom skins.

Why doesnt Dice/Ea make an anti cheat program that detects no fog, radar hacks, bright skins etc etc.

Blah blah blah. Do you realize the amount of work it would take to create an anti-cheat program? And then it'd have to be updated regularly, plus how do you make something that detects 'bright' skins? People would easily find a way around that one too, I guarantee it. DICE creating a Punkbuster-esque program is pie-in-the-sky thinking.

I think it was Dietrich that said they're planning to release what they have of 4.0. If the 1.4 patch doesn't end up halting client-side mods, I'm sure MC will continue work on 4.0 as originally planned.
