The lag has gotten worse with 1.3

Ever since 1.3 i been lagging so bad my fps were 4 or less! I e mailed EA tech support but would like to know whats causing it. I have a GF2MX400 so i know thats one problem but i know theres another.

GaSrAm February 9th, 2003 02:37 PM

You do realise you have posted your game key in amongst all that info ?...

derFuhrer February 9th, 2003 03:10 PM

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHH good lord, a mod better censor that part out!

VonMeyer February 9th, 2003 03:29 PM

Its gone! I erased it. I registered with EA when i first bought this game.

C0CKER February 9th, 2003 03:46 PM

i have realized the same....my computer can only handle about half the amount of bots in single player now...if i put any more than 1/2, then i get really low fps and laggy...maybe its cause my computer is only a PIII933 with GF4mx440. But instead of 35 people playing, it took me down to 16 to keep it safe. In any case...it blows

Garand February 9th, 2003 04:31 PM

I dont have a clue whats causing it, and friend of mine got a GF4 and its laggin like crazy... My ATI Radeon 9700 Pro seems to be ok for this patch, but leave it to EA to screw it up in later patchs...

VonMeyer February 9th, 2003 05:30 PM

Could be overheating of the card which causes it to slow down like it does.

ratbag_88 February 9th, 2003 06:10 PM

i used to have a Geforce2 mx 400, but found that it cannot handle many frames in bf1942, so i upgraded and it runs like a dream.

VonMeyer February 9th, 2003 06:31 PM

Im about to use mine as target practice. Anyone want a GF2MX400 full of 357. holes?

C0CKER February 9th, 2003 09:12 PM

I DO!!!!!

derFuhrer February 10th, 2003 06:41 AM

With v1.2 patch, I played the game with both the GF2MX400 and GF4MX420, didn't see much differences. But with v1.3 the GF2MX400 seems no more use, it feels much laggier and I believe it's memory usage because when I leave the game, the OS runs extremely sluggish for about 2 minutes before it recovers. That is a sign of high memory usage and may be why the sound crackles/echos as well, it wasn't this bad in v1.2 so EA did something where it is eating up RAM once again like the v1.0 and v1.1 days.

*SIGH* EA, when ya gonna learn not to break something that works.

VonMeyer February 10th, 2003 06:57 AM

They wont. EA=More Money

Jingo February 10th, 2003 09:35 AM

How long?

No offense VonMeyer, but for how long you intend to cry about your outdated video card?Jesus, get yourself a new one!Don't tell me you can't afford one!

VonMeyer February 10th, 2003 10:31 AM

:( actually no i cant. My B-Day is in 2 weeks so i expect a new card. One more thing will an AGP card fit into a PCI slot?

Jingo February 10th, 2003 11:36 AM

No.

VonMeyer February 10th, 2003 12:48 PM

Guess im stuck with this PCI GF2MX400. Ah well.

C0CKER February 10th, 2003 02:04 PM

all the more reason to upgrade your board....if you look hard enough, you can always find a legit excuse to blow money on comps:D :D :D

Which isnt nessecary.

SgtTallman February 10th, 2003 04:23 PM

I have a GeForce4 Ti4200 overclocked and it STILL lags sometimes. It usually stops after about 10 seconds into the game. My problem right now is RAM. I'm gonna get 2 128's of RDRAM off the net soon.

C0CKER February 10th, 2003 04:34 PM

not nessesary......but fun!......agree??

VonMeyer February 10th, 2003 04:44 PM

no

C0CKER February 10th, 2003 05:03 PM

why??, are you one of those people that try to get by with the bare minimum and gripe when you HAVE to upgrade for a certain program or game??

VonMeyer February 10th, 2003 05:19 PM

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm yeah.

Kenji Aido February 10th, 2003 05:19 PM

You expect an N64 game to run on the original Nintendo too because you don't want to pay for the N64 system?

IMO, if you want to run new games on your PC, buy new hardware. Owning a PC for gaming is by no means an easy and cheap task. You have to keep up with the race or your left behind, fast.
If you don't want to spend the cash on hardware all the time, buy a Console system and use your PC for checking e-mail.

VonMeyer February 10th, 2003 05:20 PM

SgtTallman February 10th, 2003 05:22 PM

If they'd port more PS2 games to the PC I wouldn't even piss on a console.

VonMeyer February 10th, 2003 05:22 PM

Lets see. New computer takes money, New hardware takes money, seeing as i been out of prision for 1 year kind of hard to get a job when you have a rap sheet 3 pages long.

SgtTallman February 10th, 2003 05:24 PM

You could always sell your body on the streets. :D

Kenji Aido February 10th, 2003 05:25 PM

Thats why I suggested buying a console system. In that, you wouldn't need worry about hardware compatability and speed as console games are conformed to that system spec's.

SgtTallman February 10th, 2003 05:26 PM

Buy a PS2.

Kenji Aido February 10th, 2003 05:33 PM

I've been thinking of buying a PS2 for a few months now. For the price of a new GPU alone, I could have the latest system made spicificly for gaming.
However, in the other hand, I enjoy the PC's ability for customization and interaction that console systems lack. That is what has kept me from moving to a console thus far.

So, I still drudge out and buy new hardware every 2 to 3 months to keep my system "in the race", but not trailing last or in the lead. Just in the middle, and I'm happy. All without complaining about it.

SgtTallman February 10th, 2003 05:34 PM

*Drools*

Hey man let's go into business together! I'll drive the getaway jeep as you rob the bank with your STG 44! :D

C0CKER February 10th, 2003 05:44 PM

ok, or you can buy a xp2100+ with an nforce2 board 512 ddr pc2700 and a Ti4400 all for 400 or so. Yeah it costs money, but thats only 400. For all you ps2 freaks.....ps3 is on the way. Early 2003 i heard and the specs that i saw at megagames.com it had 4....THATS 4 1.0Ghz processors. Sounds unreal, but hey....just relaying what I saw!

VonMeyer February 10th, 2003 05:44 PM

Im done with this thread.

C0CKER February 10th, 2003 05:46 PM

:cya: :cya: :cya: :cya:

VonMeyer February 10th, 2003 05:49 PM

Almost forgot. Im tired of being nice to people on here.

C0CKER February 10th, 2003 05:50 PM

umm...ok

Kenji Aido February 10th, 2003 05:58 PM

Von, I fail to see where you have been nice.
Most of what I see from you since I started reading this board in November 02 is complaining, arguing and spam "  " and "Another useless topic".
If someone doesn't agree with you, or see something in the same way as you, you dump on them like a ton of bricks.

I have seen you be helpful, but even then your rude about it.
I think you may need to reveiw what the word nice means.

C0CKER February 10th, 2003 06:30 PM

Kenji...I :bows: to you.....lol, i couldnt agree with you more

From where someone car trunk? Probabaly stolen.

But anyway i unistalled my gf2MX400 and now going to reboot and reisntall the card and hopefully itll work. Far as i know my motherboard is an ASUS of what model number i dont know but i know its an asus!

C0CKER February 11th, 2003 10:03 AM

VonMeyer, I will assure you, I will give you websites that sell it. If you just look hard enough, and not pay retail for stuff, you can get it. And if you take that from someones trunk, that better be a nice ass carr to have it in.:D

VonMeyer February 11th, 2003 10:06 AM

I just need a new motherboard prefrebly P4 2.0GHZ with a new ati pro 9700. WHats the website.

C0CKER February 11th, 2003 10:31 AM

wait a minute......i said xp 2100+ ....intel costs more. However, you can check out some stuff on benchmarks on how they compare. The amd xp2100 outperforms the intel 2.1 ghz. And you pay much....much less. And i also said GF4 Ti4400...not radeon 9700. You are picking the high end of the market. If you are worried about price, i wouldnt got that way.

VonMeyer February 11th, 2003 11:01 AM

Just need a new video card is all

C0CKER February 11th, 2003 11:16 AM

yes, but do you have an agp slot?? PCI video just doesnt realy cut for most of todays games. How fast and what kind is your processor? How much and what kind of ram do you have?

VonMeyer February 11th, 2003 11:23 AM

PCI Ouch

1.10GHZ P3 Not fast enough

512MB ram Not enough

C0CKER February 11th, 2003 11:37 AM

hey hey, to tell you the truth, i have a 933 p3, with 512 ram and GF4mx440...so dont feel left out. I havnt bought that other shat cause i got my girlfriends vday and bday coming up...money, money, money. Do you have 1 stick of 512 (which would be enough), and if so or not, is it pc133, or pc100? So, what do you want to do? We could upgrade your current stuff for about 150(video card and board)...or you could upgrade to a whole new system (motherboard, memory, processor, vid card)for 400-450

ghost77 February 11th, 2003 09:47 PM

hey i have the same graphics card and it works fine even with 1.3 just update it at nividia.com, get the new patch i should help.

C0CKER February 11th, 2003 10:00 PM

vonmeyer....try newegg.com....tell me what you think, they are pretty cheap on about everything. Also, try googlegear.com....they are both cheap prices and are very reliable!
