DICE hasn't gone for a perfectly accurate game, its just a quick, fun WWII themed game.

like only 6000 STG's were made (the main german assault gun in the game) but STG's are more fun then running round with a slow bolt action Kar 98.

Battlefield was always supposed to be like that, I remember in a early DICE interview they said making the game fun is the priority, historically accurate stuff comes second.

But if you really want all the historically accurate stuff of World War 2, a mod called Forgotten Hope is being made that will have all the correct weapons/speeds/ armour values etc.

And of course if you want to use realistic and historically accurate infantry weapons you can always play DoD :)

Very true... DoD is just about as accurate as you can get with the weapons... i have no idea why the makers of battlefield 1942 would fallow their example with the weapons...

Also... I see you guys talking about the British and Russians, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE AMERICANS (yanks to all the Brits, just a joke, I think its funny you guys still call us that, I might as well call you lobster backs...) In BF, the American engineer is using a Springfield!!! That was a weapon used back in WWI... in WWII the Americans used a M1 Grand... Anyone else want to go on about this, their are still more weapons the Americans used in WWII...

See you on the battlefield!

The Germans on the other hand had some awsome machines.
Was same as the planes to untill the supermarine spitfire came out, but this was at the end of the war..Till then the me109 was bar far the better,ME110's would be nice to i s'pose..and drop the B17's and get the Lancaster bomber in game..

You are correct the germans had pretty small main guns on the majority of their tanks for the first 3 years of the war(including the Czech and French tanks they acquired through conquest). 50vm guns were the norm with directly nixing army requests to upgun their tanks. most people only know or think of the Panthers, Tiger, King Tiger etc.
:agreed: The number sof these vehicles was very small. The germans built about 6200 Panthers whereas we built over 55,000 Shermans. It is a credit to the quality of the tanks they did have but moreso the quality of the german officers and soldiers that fought with them.
