They are going to make an Aliens vs. Predator movie, im so exicited!!!, I hope it dosen't turn out to be crappy. Go here http://www.avp-movie.com/ ,not much there right now since the movie dosen't come out till august 2004.

It's still in preproduction. I'm just hoping it doesn't end up killing the franchise if it doesn't do very well in the box office.

I'm sure it's going to be a great movie, but I'm still hoping that Sigourney Weaver returns for Alien 5. The main problem I see with AVP being a dud movie is that the Alien movies are reknown for their tension and and 'implied horror' (well the first 2 Alien films anyway). I'm just hoping they don't show too much footage of the Alien otherwise it takes the scaryness away from the creature because we are seeing it too much. That make sense to anyone?

Yeah, I have this feeling that AvP is just gonna go down the same route as Resurrection. They're gonna be bringing the aliens out of the shadows more and more, just because the CG now allows them to. It's gonna lose a lot of the menace associated with the aliens.
It's not gonna be like any of the Pred films or Alien Quadrilogy (maybe similar to Resurrection), that's for sure.
Still, ya never know, it might be good in it's own right.

Personally it looks good. Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3 were ok! 3 being the worst of the 3 is Alien 3 as the "Shadows" are pratically none existent. Imo Aliens being the best as there constantly in the shadows and theres 1,000's of them! Alien is definatly the scariest as a singel alien seems alot deadlier than 1,000's. If this movie fails i doubt it'll kill the franchise but it will make a comeback very difficult indeed! I still love and will always love Predator and Aliens as their the ultimate hunters in their own right! some by stealth some by brute force!

i hope the predators win the film and trimph at the end lol and then there should be a cliffhanger where the preds have gotta take down a queen! lol It's too boring if the humans end up WINNING, as usual.

Yup yup, no matter what they do with the Aliens series, Aliens will always be the un-argued daddy. Best of the quadrilogy, no doubt.
But ya know, in Pred2 they hint at the Yautja's previous contact with the Xeno's cos u can see an alien skull hanging up in the ships "trophy cupboard" (I'm sure everyone's already noticed this). It's gonna be nice to actually see the preds showing their true quality by taking down some Xeno's, ya know?

That's what it's all about...the two ultimate hunting species going at it!!
Forget the humans...
...just leave them as easy-target play things for the Preds and Aliens. Death, death and more death. Maybe a touch of light maiming if they have time. :nodding:

well i do not know if anyone ever noticed it on the site but for some time there was a slogan which said:[quote mode on]"whoever wins .... we lose"[/quote mode off] and i think with we they mean the Mankind (or just short humans hehe) and i think it is still there.

Just go to the wallpapers section by chosing pred or alien downloads and then take the wp of your prefered screensize and you see it in the bottom right corner ;).

It sounds for me good but who knows what 20th century Fox is up to (lets hope about a stunning movie which keeps its traditional, legendary kind) ;).

I dont think they'll show the aliens as much as they did in Resurrection, in an interview I read (you can read it here), they said that they would only use CGI when they absolutely needed, they guy agreed that they showed too much in the 4th film (for example, the scene under water), they are going to try and not do that again.

From the interview, it seens to be turning out pretty good.

I'm really hoping that the AvP movie is going to kick ass but someone told me that the director that did Resident Evil (dunno the name) is making it and to be honest, RE film wasn't terribly good...if its true, i hope he/she does a better job this time round... :uhm:

I'm really hoping the movie is good. Paul Anderson hasn't had the great of a track record, though. I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

Depends on what you like. There are many people who greatly prefure the first ALIEN over all others. It was simply so unbridled with terror, and when it first came out it was so different with the stile of photography.

That's actually what started the whole AvP thing.

That is very true, the first was a mould breaker for the time. Terrifying, especially the first time u watch it.
But on the other hand, the second manages to balance the fear factor (admittedly not as intense) with some superbly atmosheric battles which gives the film some pace while retaining the menace of the xeno's. Once u've watched Alien a few times, u begin to notice that it actually plods onwards fairly slowly and it's easier to lose interest once the scares and shocks have been removed (by veiwer expectance). I think for repeated watching, the balance of action, well directed screenplay and varying pace of Aliens,gives it an edge over it's predecesor.
As a result, I would say Aliens has stood the test of time better than the original which is reflected by it's popularity.

As many people have already said, mates and critics alike (it was even mentioned in one of the Scream films), that Aliens is a rare example of a sequel being "better" than the original.

I'm not saying ur wrong, far from it, Alien is a classic. But I personally think Aliens has a wider appeal and a better balance as a film generally, which IMO makes it "better". :)

I'm looking forward to watching this film this summer, and I've found some interesting stuff that you can view here http://movies.go.com/movies/A/alienv...003/index.html I've read that Lance Henrisken (Bishop from previous Alien's movies) is going to be in the cast. That would kick ass if Ripley came back from the dead like she did in all the other Alien's movies.. hehe

It's be rather difficult since she wouldn't even be born during the time this movie takes place. Also, Sigorny hates the idea of Aliens and Predators together, so that's a big no-no. Besides, Ripley doesn't have to be in every movie with the name ALIENS in it.

yah i know that the resident evil movie was kinda shity, but look on the up side the first alien movie was awsome why because the alien was left 75% to your imagination, you only cought quick glimps of the creature and thats what made the movie scary. with that in mind paul anderson was very shy about showing the licker creatures in the resident evil movie you only saw very quick shots giving the creature a scary preasence. if he is the same with the alien vs pred movie i think it might be pretty good.

One of the cases where low-tech made the movie better. Since Ridley didn't have CGI he could really only show the alien for about a second. Any longer would give away the fact that the creature was a human in a rubber suit. The same kinda goes for JAWS. The mechanical shark just wouldn't perform the way they wanted it to, so they could only show it for small lenghts of time (roughly equal to how often the creature actually worked). Had it worked perfectly, it would probably have been over-used.

i couldn't agree more :cheers:. the coolest thing about the alien movies was imagining what the aliens would look like. the same appeal came through in the first predator movie. the reason the pred is so scary and intriguing is because he's invisible.... had he been visible, he would've been FAR less intimidating. my first hopes for the movie were about this issue too, so i sure hope they let our imaginations work some before showing the preds and aliens so much.

personaly i dont care how much thought is put in the movie.... im way more excited about the posibility of the movie sparking a fire under sierra's ass and them getting to work on the damn avp 3 game. (and that they should put alot of thought into damnit. i mean its only been how long since avp2 )

Don't get so excited about this movie it will probably suck =/
First of all the story is bad and dosen't make any sense at all. first they say humans built pyramids with predators help for the predator, sure ill go with that but then the examination pyramid is on antarctica cus no people live there, but how did they build it if noone lives there? And they also choosed antartica cus it's cold but they might as well gone to mars or sth since its cold and noone will go there ;)(at lest untill now ;)) And why would the predators breed aliens which are so dangerous with theire acid blood when fighting close combat. And this predalien shit which also is in the game really sux cus its just rediciles that aliens would be diffrent when "maturing" in an predator and they're much uglier and not as frigthening as the regular aliens and if they look diffrent when maturing in an predator why dosent they look diffrent when maturing in a dog as seen in alien 3? And i also think runners are quite ugly and serve no real purpuse :)
thats about it i think but remember its was a while since i saw the movies and such and all facts may now be correct and if they arent please remind me :D

I agree with ice world. I saw this featrette on the movie. It kept jumping around. To predators killing aliens in the past to humans in the future. That just sound stupid to me. They also talked about new weapons for predators. New weapons that existed in the past? Man, I think they are gonna kill 2 franchises with 1 movie. But who knows, I could be the re-birth of the whole series. I'm also hoping they do a predator 3. That could suck alot but oh well I want to see arnold and danny kickin pred ass together in 1 movie. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

sorry about complaining about runners, predalien. I saw alien 3 last weekend and the alien in the dog did take a dog like apperance so just ignore that part ;) although i do wonder why it isnt black since it is more scarier that way and feels more like an alien ;) and the colour does seem to bee fucked up since, the predalien look like a predator in colour but not the regular alien or the dog(the dog was black/brown wasn't it? and the runner brown or sth) point is all versions should be black ;)

hmmm, I'll watch it again right now, I thought a saw a horn. But that scene is pretty discusting with the "animals" stomach exploding and all that shit goes everywhere. Yeeeyuuuukkk. But is it different on the special edition? probably not but I'll watch the theater release.

Oh alright, I got it the special edition has a bull's stomach exploding with the runner and The theatrical release has a dog. Know whats weird, the dog doesn't show up at all in the special edition at all, probably has no reason to.

The theater release is way different than the special edition. Theres a bunch of extended stuff and new scenes in the special edition. Alien3 is my least favorite because the messed with the story too much. At the beginning of alien3 I was hoping Hicks survived but NOOOO. I that the scene where Clemens cuts open the little girls chest. That is just f***ed up. When the runner doesn't kill her that kinda gives away that shes got one inside her. Alien3 is the most discusting out of them all, in my opinion.

not true! here is the story i have heard! when both of the films aliens and predator came out, some guys at hollywood wanted to pit em against eachother. but the big head guys said no. so the good guys left hollywood and went to to the comic book company, dark horse, then when pred 2 was in the making the people looked at the name of the comic books and said hmmm... and so they put the head in.! and that the truth.

omg, didn't know there was and se to alien 3, gotta see it :D but dudes ya gotta edmit alien 4 is sooo _BAD_ alien 3 was truly a quiet bad movie but alien wasn't just bad it kinda ruiend alien with all new kinds such as the queen after a while not leying eggs but breed fully grown half alien half human "aliens" And btw it's impossible to clone a person with an alien inside and to get the person and the alien inside just using the persons dna :)
