Yeah, I do admitt it looks like it could be good. It gave the impression it'll be quite tense with plenty of death but I'm still not convinced about the storyline.
And remember, a trailer that short, without showing any prolonged scene's, could be just piecing all the 'exciting' bits together. As shocking a marketing tactic as that seems!
I'm not saying it's gonna be bad, just not gonna get too worked up about it incase it does turn out to be dodgy.
Hey, look at it this way, if it's poo I won't be disappointed but if it's great then I'll enjoy it even more!
story line is gonna suck from the looks of it. The ancient predator gods thing is dumb. I can't think of anymore things to complain about so someone else write something.
This is my first post and I just thought I would share my opinion about the movie.
Paul Anderson didn't do that bad with RE even though George Romero would have been the better pick for it. The story line in AvP The Movie closes a lot of gaps, like, why the Aliens are on LV-426.
I think it will do well in the box office, especially because of all us die-hard fans and, even if it is short, the internet trailer gets me pumped up.
Can't wait for August 13th!

you relize that 1st its a movie they aint going to tall ya the hole story line, 2nd it just came out of pre-production.
ok this is all i got from the story line:
a long time ago in a galexy not so far away (200,00 years ago) the preds wanted to make a test for there teenagers so they thuought why not pit them aginst aliens....so every 200,000 or somthing like that, preds would land drop of 5 teens to test them. so they made humans build pyramids. thats were aliens come, in the preds got some aliens and put them in the pyramid and made humans be hosts for aliens then thy let there teens kill them if they lived they were adults. (modern days) some sientists discover a pyramid under the ice and decide to investigate, witch happens to be the same time in witch the teen preds are brought to the earth to be tested. the rest is yet to come.....

Are u sure about that? I mean, did u read that or are u just assuming?
Since Aliens is set in the distant future (forgive me for forgetting when) and LV-426 isn't even discovered by humans until the time of Alien (still very much in the future) and the fact that AvP is set in the past/current day - why would they even bother putting LV-426 in? There seems absolutely no point in it and they'd just be trying to ful-fill a tangent in the wrong film.

A very valid point, I think. As I mentioned earlier in the thread (along with several others) I don't think they'll monkey around with the story and history too much. I think (at least I hope) they realise that giving the audience too much info on the alien past will rip away half the mystery...which...in the end.... will dissapoint more fans than it'll please.

Meh, even though I love the RE series I still thought the film was a bit "bland". It was OK, but there didn't seem to be any real atmosphere created. At least not what I expected. It just felt like an action movie with zombie's and Umbrella thrown in, nothing that made it "feel right". I guess I just fear that he might end up producing the same kind of thing - an action movie with aliens and preds thrown into the mix. BTW...interesting fact... George Romero was actually the original director for the RE film. There were "disagreements" over artistic license and he left the project. I seem to remember that they wouldn't give him enough freedom to work with it the way he thought it should be so he hit the road. Sad really. I mean, if u were them, would u really argue with the god of zombie-horror? Nah nah nah, u'd give him space to work and just have a quiet word if he was totally going of on one!!
What I'm trying to say is.....Is it going to feel like an Aliens/Pred film or is it just going to be an acceptable action movie with them in it?
Dunno about u but there's a whole world of difference as far as I'm concerned.

Right, all we can do right now is speculate, and hope for the best, but at the same time dont get your hopes up too much, you could be setting your self up for a disappointment, and yet again, you might not, we'll just have to wait. like if this hasn't been said before a thousand times.
Exactally what kain said. Atmosphere is very important. With Terminator 3 I didn't think the atmosphere was right. They screwed with the formula. Now formula is different. The ALIEN series has a formula of how much you see the alien and the amount of violence, etc... But people get disappointed when you f*** up the formula. If predator 3 came out (I keep using this as an example) and humans went to the preds planet, your f***ing with the formula. You gotta stay on earth and fight the pred or preds there. And there has to be a reference to the previous predators. And a little bit of cheesey humor. Anyway I'm tired so I'm gonna stop here.
