Well yes for you they maybe not so good but for "some" other people they are therefore i would not underestimate it but you are right i do not like it either and we maybe share a common feeling if its about Harry Potter Xenomorph and i think that it is really just something for kids (imo) and that AVP is something for the adult audiences out there .... like me hehe ;).

ah, its good to see im not the only one who doesn't like harry potter. I know, how about a movie with harry potter and Xenomorphs in it, where harry potter gets slaughtered by the aliens? :lol: that might be fun to watch.

On topic, the animatronics in the movie that are shown in the new "behind the scenes" clip, look pretty cool, like the alien, and the predator jaw. Whether it turn out to be a really good movie or a mediocre one, I can say im still looking forward to it. :)

Well it seems that you have not readed it carefully enough Kain and if you read it again you will notice that i never said that anyone should not tell their own opinions or anything else (including free speech ....) about the Movie today i just said that movies are totally seen in a different view from today then it was for about 20 - 30 years ...

You can say anything you want about this topic but i just said that in the past people had a complete different view on movies ... and so forth

Iam not complaining about anything today nor do i want to change anything i am just saying what my experience told me after some years of being in different forums about even more different franchises that this was something that draw my attention because it was very obvious for me "seeing" it (i mean those changes ;) ).

Well, to set the record strait, I have nothing against Harry Potter the book series. I've never read them, so I don't have much to say either say. I have, however, seen the movies, and that's what I'm commenting on. I've heard lots of good things about the book, but I'm more into the LOTR and Dragonlance fantasy series.
Oh, and the Xanth books. :lol:

Yeah, I've never read the HP books either although I'm told they're good. The films were strictly "OK" in my opinion, but then they were aimed at kids so I'm not really suriprised I didn't love them.
I kinda want to read the books...I mean a school of magic is a cool idea and the books are supposed to be a lot more in depth but there's still something about adults reading Harry Potter that doesn't agree with me. Maybe all the hype and the sudden media rush of a while ago has put me off...:uhm: . Who knows.

But yeah, I'm with Xeno, much more into my LOTR series. Anybody read The Silmarillion? It's good if u can keep up with the multitude of important characters, their bloodlines and how they mix.
BTW, anybody done the "His Dark Materials" series? it's supposed to be good, just want some recommendations before starting it.

actually, I have read Piers Anothonie's book, but I am only on book 3 in the Xanth series, lol, anyway! back to AVP movie! for all of you who say you want to see the preds whoop aliens ass', you all suck!! I am sick of those damn preds, aliens rule!! I want to see a pred come and act all high and mighty and then suddenly 6 aliens jump on him and rip him to shreads, THAT is what I want to see, unfortunatelly there is a vote on the AVP movie website on who should win, the preds are winning by like 40000, the aliens have about 16k votes and the preds have about 20k, which sucks!!!!!! but you can vote again and again.

I have a feeling that the Predators and the Aliens will just be left behind in mortal combat while one or two surviving 'oomans' flee... Either that, or ALL the two alien species are killed and one or two surviving 'oomans' flee, lol. Seems to be a familiar pattern. Oops, I've spoiled the end :S

But really, I can't wait, and hope it's a classic, rather than something like the Matrix sequels. I hope they're putting some effort into it!

I agree, but I still want to see atleast one pred die because of aliens, maybe a face hugger will snatch one, i wonder what that alien would look like, I'd rather that then preds take the whole show, but thanx alot bud

I think as someone else also might have said that the whole "whoever win we loose" thing is "fake" since we cant loose if alien 1-3 ever gonna happen if not they are thinking about the dudes at antratica if they do someone probably gonna say int the movie ;P but i think preds and humans gonna ally or preds just gonna help the humans... something new pops into my head, the predators might not wanna help humans since if they did and humans survived to tell the story about aliens/preds there might start an war between pred/human and maybe aliens but or preds just need humans temporarly to kill the aliens (in antartica) and then kill em so they could not tell. man, this got kinda dunno whats the word mut it might be hard to get but i hope u get the general ideas et least ;D

Lack of punctuation aside, I don't think that a 'war' with humans and Predators would ever happen. Apart from the fact that they prefer the hunt, the location of their homeworld is a well-guarded secret, and they don't really have any other 'territory', so to speak. Their ships just cruise the cosmos, stopping off occassionally to hunt. Although it'd be frickin' wild to see such a thing...

From what I've garnished from printed material (the only other place to find info on preds, as the movies are sparce about social infrastructure and clan groupings), pred clans essentially live on their ships (the big ones, that is, like the one in Pred2). Their homeplanet apears to be rarely visited, as there is little need to. Also, their ships appear to have the ability to go from point A to point B instantaniously, making it impossible to follow them. Kind of like going through a wormhole in Star Trek.

Indeed. Kinda makes a war hard to wage, lol. An enemy that doesn't live on any planets, the one planet they do live on is a secret they'll die with, and you can't chase 'em... or see them, lol. Pretty frickin' hard if you ask me :lol:

And when they show the aliens climbing the pyramid where the preds a fighting, it looks like there are shots from the plasma caster being fired, but they are red, aren't the plasma caster shots blue?

And the wristblades (in my opinion), they are too long.

Yep, saw that a couple of days ago. An aquaintance with whom I am helping test his new AvP2 mod sent me the link.

Chances are, that is not a thermal mode. Remember Predator 2? Preds have a whole slew of different vision modes.

Not necessarily. Remember, every pred makes his own equipment. Two weapons may looks similar, but may end up functioning very differently, depending on that particular predator's prefered hunting style. Also, the plasma bolt in Predator 2 was more yellowish.

Probably just that predator's preference.

I went to go see The Chronicals of Riddick on Saturday night and, like always, hoping for some awsome trailers. A couple went by when I saw a 20th Century Fox trailer with creepy music and when I saw Lance Hendrikson standing there talking about a pyrimid in antartica, chills ran down my back. Seeing that trailer in that theater on the big screen made my day. I think I might have been wrong about this movie, because it looks pretty fu*king awsome.

C'mon, give it chance... as with many sequels and new movies they update things...

As for the wrist blades, they have changed them back to the original type... but think about it if they used the ones for killing humans on an alien... the'd melt half their arm off too!

When u think back to the predator race its self, they are a race that take the sport of hunting prey to a new level, so to justify how serious they are they have entire weapon sets for hunting differant species!

When you think about it for a while, it makes sense.

The first Predator film is set in the late 70's early 80's (there is a more accurate refferance to this in Predator 2)
The second Predator film is set in the not to distant future.
The AvP Movie is set in a similar future time to the Aliens films...
So yet again it makes sense that Predators have improved upon the technology of the first 2 Films, as for the plasma pistol, it is in the game, but we have seen it nowhere else so yet again it makes sense that it is the new model plasma pistol etc.

I can't freakin wait for the movie. Only a few more days I think now. I LOVE the games. They add a whole lot into both races story line. Not to mention the marines as well. The movie, from what I saw, doesn't seem to elabrate like the games do on the derlict ship (like in the first Alien movie), but I hope it goes into it more, Like AVP2 did a bit. And the first. Though honestly it's been a while since I have played the first AVP. I LOVE both games. But I had to take back the first one because the sound didn't work right with my old PC (My new PC is Alienware's new Aurara). I do want to get it again. Just to have.


The movie looks cool to me, I like how they made different levels of Preds now, like in the game. It makes sense too, makes them seem more like an actual race, than just a single monster. heh. Anyway, I sure hope it's good, the previews look kinda cool.


Either way you know I will be there on opening night!!

Ive looked at this movie friggin ausome movie comes out this friday they 13th im about to piss myself i wanna see it so bad man im a huge fan of aliens and this better not turn out like jason vs freddy were they both win. Anyway, I saw Avp today, I loved it. From what I heard it was gonna be a piece of shit, but I really enjoyed it. You gotta be into Alien and Predator to enjoy it fully. Critics don't like it because they probably aren't that into Alien and Predator. But I encourage anyone who likes Alien and or Predator to see it. Also, for those confused about when its set, its in present time October 10, 2004.

I'm not sure what to think of the movie.... I didn't care too much, but I think I will give it another round. Sometimes you catch things better the second time around. I guess I was expecting more along the story, like with the AVP games, in which I am a HUGE fan of. The games added so much more on both sides, including the marines, and I was very dissapointed the movie lost all that progress. But who knows, maybe it's just me.


But I think the movie was alright even still.
