Whats minium requirements on a windows avp2 server?
 

If its rather low i might put up a server if not, i will put up a server on a lniux machine ;)

Right. Regardless I don't think there is an AVP2 linux server is there?
Why not look for other AVP2 servers?
I would imagine pretty much anything above 1GHz with 512MB of RAM can host a decent server - the no. of ports & the quality of ping is always more dependant on the net connection the machine (in the server role) is using & not its spec. (so long as it meets the requirements of running the game) :nodding:

There is a avp2 server for linux although it is not offical. It also only requires a p2 450 and 128 mb ram. And i know a server requires a decent internet connection and i also know a 1 mbit connection would do for 16 players and i got a 2 mbit connection. As for looking for current avp2 servers, most are in usa and lags alot for me here in sweden, europe.

I'm getting the game off eBay in a little while (2 weeks?) so would I be able to join your server -if you set one up- then? :uhm:

yea. i think i will set it up tomorrow but i dont know if im gonna go for 16 players, depends on how much of my connection it uses ;) Btw why buy it from ebay? In stores in cant cost more than 15€

I'd say you go for 8 players if you have anything less than a 1mbps connection. Heck, I'd go for 8 players even if ping weren't a problem -- 16 players takes the fun out of it.

Some of them are. Just because they fit 16 players in them, it doesn't mean its fun. Oh, traditional deathmatch players can still be satisfied. But the real 'game' of AVP suffers. Part of the added fun of the AVP games is the hunt. Aliens crawl around in the dark quietly trying to sneak up on humans and Predators, Predators stick to high ground and track humans, and humans try and stay alive. But when the Predator has 10 Aliens jumping at his back, he has to decloak and reveal his position, and it just becomes a bog-standard deathmatch.
Fun as a deathmatch is, AVP can be much more than that. Only, it works best with 8 players. 4 players is too few. 10/12 players is pushing it a little. 16 players is too much. I suppose if you download a much larger map than the stock maps, it could work as the players would be spread more thinly. But if you do that, you probably won't get more than 8 players joining anyway.

1 mbit is enough for 16 and i got 2 so thats np. But mr.matt you do have a point. It is much funnier to sneak and kill than a complete chaos.

I've played the game on and off since it was released. I've just built up a personal preference over the years.

Mr.Matt I have really thought about what you said and i really think is alot funnier to be sitting in the roof and jump down onto a marine and take his head for lunch. So maybe you can help me decide which maps to use and how manye players and other settings ;)

No i havent put it up just yet because i want to put it up with the right settings since its a bit harder to change in linux ;)
