It won't die as long as we keep moding. Any new games will take a long time to add all the mods A2 has. As it stands, A2 still has much room for improvement. It's only recently that new avenues for it have appeared.

Armada 2 won't die, there are people still modding Armada 1 for god shake. I am not at all impressed with Legacy, they should of make a new Armada in my opinion. I think they are trying to cram to many different genres into the one game. I have been a fan of Star Trek and its gaming for years and years and I have looked forward to each of their games, except Legacy. Legacy may be a nice diversion for a while, but most of the Armada community will be sticking with Armada after the dust settles I believe.
I pefer the style of the Armada games, EAW was a major let down as they were trying to put too much into the one game, hell there were patches before the game was even launched. I can see this happening to Legacy in one form or another, ie not as succcessful as the game producers are hoping for.
Also Star Trekker don't let your emotions get in the way, you may be really excited about Legacy, which is fine by us all, but just because you are doesn't mean everyone here is, there will be some that leave modding Armada for Legacy, while others won't touch the game and many will be playing and modding both if Legacy is moddable.
So no matter how successful or non-successful Legacy is Armada 1 and 2 will have have the large fan base that it still has today. JUst look at some of the mods being produced at this current time, Zero Hour, Future Tense, Stargate Project, Battlestar Armada, Parallels and the list goes on. Armada modding is far from dead and won't be dying for many years to come.

Actually, Majest, your hopes for an A3 technically are closer then ever - think about it with MAD DOC onboard the Bethesda team, let's be honest, better game publishers then Activision, there's hope that if Legacy does well, the chance for an A3 could occur, especially if many fans ask about.
So, in short, it may be worth getting excited about LGY anyhow.

Legacy is really worth getting I can feel it in my bones. Playing or modding Armada 2 for 6 years is getting boring. Armada 2 will died maybe not when Legacy is released, so what.

Thanks for the info Joelteon7. I sure hope they bring out a new Armada (plain RTS game) after Legacy. Legacy to me feels like a new SFC to be honest except you can command like 5 ships instead of one.

Thats a little rude. So your saying that once Legacy is out the Armada community can just die for all you care? Thats a bit selfish and a way to not make friends.

I wasn't trying be rude or anything. I am just staying that Armada 2 won't be popular forever. You should give Legacy a chance. I been waiting for a new Star Trek game a long time. I still like Armada 2 but need a break from it and I want to try out a new Star Trek game. Armada 2 is like a routine to me now. If they are going to make Armada 3 after Legacy that be awesome. For right now, I just can't wait when Legacy and Online are released. If I am able to connected a Nintendo DS to the Nintendo Wii (they should kept it as Nintendo Revolution) that is released this November, I might go buy Tactical Assault. Heldhand games are too hard for me to play because I have to play the controls sideways.
I am sorry if I was being rude. It's just shocking that Armada 2 lasted this long that is cool.

No worries. Armada 2 will last for a lot longer I believe, but Legacy will give us a new game to play and talk about. I just hope it has a long campaign and a good storyline behind it.
But if Armada 3 never happens at least if Syf, Zered, myself and others can get it together, then Red Ash will be the next big fully moddable space RTS game.
But I do hope there is an Armada 3 someday in the near future.

Honestly they didn't put enough OOMPH! into Armada 2, as I said at the beginning of the thread. I remember in Armada the ships could fight it out the way they do in Star Trek winning a battle with a well-planned strategy or the careful use of a special weapon. That died in A2. What happened to the Defiant being a kick-ass experimental ship?
BTW what other Genres are in Legacy other than RTS?

Expected other genres:
-Simulation
-Squad Fighter/Control
-RTS
-Tactical decision making (RTS, but more tactics, less resources etc.)

That sounds like the Armada 3 I envisioned with my friends on long, boring, rainy days. Except I wanted to be able to control boarding teams(FPS like)
and your own individual flagship(bridge commander)
