| To answer the multitude of threads which have appeared regarding how to become a staff member here, and to pre-empt any further threads, here is the: Official 'How to get a job on the forums' thread Staff additions and promotions follow a very simple route. Nobody jumps into the forums and gets an Admin position. We expect all staff to prove themselves in each of the ranks before they will be promoted. This means you'll follow this route: Member Moderator Super Moderator Forum Admin 1. Member: Not a staff position. Just register. 2. Moderator: First forum staff position. Members will be promoted to Moderator based on a strict criteria. They must be:
The best way to become a Moderator is not to apply for it. Instead, if you meet all the above criteria you will be noticed by other staff and they may put forward a recommendation. Eventually, if you come to the attention of the Forum Administration, you may be considered for a staff position. Please note, that no matter how good you are, if the forum you are interested in has a full compliment of Moderators already, you won't be considered. It is important that we maintain the correct balance of Moderators to members on each forum. If a forum needs extra staff, that will be decided by the Administrators or by existing staff requesting help. From time to time we will require addional staff to cover forums due to staff turnover or new forums being created. When such a need arises a thread will be made where you can apply for one of the positions available. This is the only time when applying will actually get you a position. The other route to Moderator is via one of the xxx.filefront.com Network Sites. As a staff member on one of the sites it is understood that you will have expertise in your area and know the community. Note that being staff at a network site doesn't guarantee you a position, but it certainly puts you in a good position to be considered. Network Staff may request to be made Moderator of their respective forum. 3. Super Moderator: Only exceptional Moderators will become Super Moderators. To be considered for this role you MUST be active in ALL forums. You MUST have a faultless knowledge of the forum rules, regulations and policies. You must rise above petty behaviour and act in a professional manner at all times. Super Moderators are the equivalent of the Police Force. You must be able to enforce the rules of the forums, even if you do not agree with them. Toughness, resilience to pressure and an outgoing personality are paramount. You will notice that all Super Moderators have very high post counts. This is not a prerequisite for a position, but it is a sign that someone is a very active member of the community. Maturity, above all else, is required. Super Moderators are hand picked by a unanimous approval of the 4 Administrators. So, if you want a position as a Super Moderator, being respectful and showing you can handle the responsibility will help you stand out enough to be considered. The other route to Super Moderator is to be promoted to FileFront Network Admin. In this position it is assumed you have a responsible personality. You may be approached and offered a Super Moderator position if you are deemed to have the relevant skills required for the role. 4. Forum Admin: Not every one has what it takes to become an Administrator. In this position you represent the forums in everything you do. You must know the forums and the staff better than anyone else and you must have the ability to make judgements and decisions which effect the forums and her members on a regular basis. Each Forum Admin is assigned an area of Forum Management to cover. The Forum Administrator has knowledge of each staff position and has proven themselves capable in each role. The ONLY chance you have of becoming a Forum Admin is to be an exceptional Super Moderator and wait for someone to step down. There is never a time when a role will just be created. The Forum Admin knows these forums better than anyone else. He knows the members, the staff, the community, politics. He is aware of everything that goes on which is forum related and has an intricate knowledge of how the staff unit functions. Forum Admins may at times appear aloof and unresponsive, but he has many things to consider which no-one except the other Administrators are aware of. Any questions, please ask. Thanks, AzH
