Great. Yeah, I don't think it was all that bad and if it doesn't work out than it can go back. But I don't think it'll be a problem.

To be honest I've been on a number of forums which had no post edit limits at all and this fact was virtually never abused as far as I know.
Same here.
I like most people here think its worth a try.

Here's my 10 cents: KILL THEM ALL!!!!!!

Nah...it's not. Actually, give it a shot. See how it goes, if people are just fucking with it to be "funny" or "cute," then add a limit. The 30 minute deal wasn't that bad.

Exactly what I had in mind! :nodding: Everything has its up- and downsides. I for one welcome this change as an regular post editor :)
It's so annoying when I discover a typing or grammar mistake in one of my earlier posts and I ran out of 30 mins. Bothering an admin with 'please edit a letter' would be simply silly, ridiculous, and time-killing (for the admin).

Also, keeping the thread opener post up to date (e.g. adding download links to a mod which is expanding) is just great, instead of scrolling thru all the posts to find whether an update had been posted or not.

Also, notice that 'no edit timeframe' is already in use for the social groups ;)

The is issue is not with you staff guys being able to monitor any changes, but rather the regular users - such as little old me - being able to break the continuity and/or 'sense' of a thread or conversation.

Personally, I'd rather lose the freedom to edit my posts at whim, for the assurance of continuity and the integrity of forum discussions. Sure, you can Police it. But with thousands of posts per day being made, you'll never be able to do so.

So, do us all a favour, and change it back.... Extend it by all means..... but unlimited is just asking for trouble.

That's why you quote it.

For me at least a few hours as I don't like having mis-spelled words... and go back and correct them later.

I think its a good idea to extend the time limit for editing, but not unlimited. Who knows how often I will change my opinion to make it the opposite of the general public?

A week would be a better time cap but really nothing more than a day would be fine. If you really have an issue after a day, you can ask a mod anyways.

I'm bad with coming back and editing my posts. I often change my mind 10 times over a 30 minute period. So you guys will be seeing a lot of variations in my posts...

Eh if you are editing your posts after a generally accepted length of time, everyone will know and you will just loose respect.
