Just one thing to add: a few months ago, your files, and everyone else's would have been deleted anyway.

It sucks that you lost all of your files, but like many, I downloaded my files off of my page when it was announced that they would be wiped away when ZDM shut down the site in April (May?).


Anyway, I see slight !! changes to the site now, so you guys are heading in the right direction.

I have to throw in more complaining though: FF is competing with Gamespot, Fileplanet, and IGN, right? Take a look at their respective pages, because right now the FF main page doesn't make the site seem like it has the same activity as the others.

I will say this though, you have an advantage over the other sites in style. Gamespot has the most god-awful yellow text, Fileplanet has the worst looking modules, and IGN has way too many things going on.

Quick fixes:
-Bigger feature picture (as I mentioned)
-1 pixel stroke around the main picture (aesthetics)
-Possible 3 column layout? Like so:

** There is one other major thing you need to add to the FF page that I just thought of: Better incorporation of the network sites. I know, I know, there is a button thing that brings up all the sites when you hover over it, but the modding community is what gives FF the edge in the gaming site community - throw in some "featured mods," "Mod reviews," etc. just some stuff to make people go "wow, I'm going to check this site out more."

n0e/redm/owners, you've got the right idea for the site, especially with the plans for upgrading and updating the network sites and really making them work, and I know there are a bunch of issues, but the big thing to avoid is having a main page that looks dead.

I wasn't ranting, just stating the facts. When my brother lost all his artwork I think he popped a blood vessel. I am of the opinion that this crew just didn't care enough to tell us when they delete the image files. The moment I upload it becomes their property. Like I said before (if you read the entire post) my brother wrote asking what happened to his artwork and received this OFFICIAL email from File Front:

The new version of FileFront is differently simpler to use.
Also, FileFront does not support images any longer.

This is not a bug. File Front has told my brother these images are toast. I don't care what they do, because I don't pay, owe, or work for File Front. They can put what they like on their site. But as I stated before I won't add my stuff to their site if they start hosting porn ads.

I never just sit back and relax, I get the answers I need and move on. From my point of view, the site looks a bit sterile. Also as Phoenix_22 said the site was supposed to go down on April 1st. There was little notice and the few that read the notice took it as a practical joke. If that had happened then there wouldn't be a forum to even post these comments.

I am not ranting about missing files just that I know they could have given us notice about the data inside the galleries.

Filefront WAS shut down, for a few hours, but the original owners, upon hearing about the closing, bought Filefront back from Ziff Davis, and restored everything. We all admit, it was HORRIBLE timing.

You keep mentioning porn ads as if they were condoned.

We get our ads through an ad company whos really in charge of what will be displayed in our frames. When such questionable or adult oriented ads appear we love to hear from the users with screenshots so we can ensure they do not appear again. We recently switched companies as the previous one was just too much hassle with that. Now, we use the same company places like fileshack uses for their ad content. You should never see such an ad again, and if you do it won't exist for much longer thanks to the support from the community in ensuring that this place remains PG-13 rated.

Most of the main Filefront.com page is white for me, no background like the older version did.

I hope FF isn't moving towards minimalistic gaming reporting, it doesn't suit it.

anyways, with the new page, there were the errors with the network sites, and now that the biggest (?) part of the storm has past, there are still little issues to work out. One thing is that I was unable to log on at all during the worst of it, and now I am still unable to. And the people online thing might be busted.
