Default Giant robot anime, any other fans?

I am a big fan of the Robotech Series, as it was aired in the US, since that is the only version of it I have seen. I grew up watching that series as it first aired on the Fox affiliate in northern California, awesome show that I still love today. I had the build your own model kits and all, just not the skill to put them together (had more glue on me than finished models-which was none finished).
I always like Lisa Hayes and I believe the Zentreadi named Mirya or something to that effect (always wanted to be Rick Hunter for some reason even though he didn't get to pull a Captain Kirk and get the alien chick).

Giant Robo and Mecha are what originally got me into anime. For years thats all I watched.

I used to build plastic model kits and had a friend with me and showed him some cool starship kits and he was all excited and said "Dude this stuff is from Robotech!" and we went to his house and watched about 5 hours of Robotech and I was hooked.

Then I saw Love Hina and discovered comedies and romantic comedies and harem animes like Tenchi Muyo.

IMHO current best mecha anime would be Macross Frontier.

Close second would be any of the MS Gundam:IGLOO CGI OVA'S. Excellent stories and excellent CGI work.

Interestingly, Zoids hooked me into the genre.

Currently watching Getta Robo OVA films at the moment. I liked their concept of combining to form robots in various configurations.

Macross Frontier was nice, but i had the feeling it was more aimed to attract female audience given the 3 main protagonist were pretty feminine looking, even the male.
But than i really liked the characters relation it made with Macross Zero.

I liked Gundam-00 more as it has a bit more action to it. Season 2 of it was especially good.

i actually didn't like gundam 00 that much. I prefer Gundam wing out of all the gundam series.

My favorite Gundam series hands down is 8th MS Team, with MS Igloo as a close second. I loved the more realistic approach to how the Gundams were shown.

I never got into the Macross series. I tried watching a couple of the different versions, but never could find anything to keep me watching.

Another series I liked alot was Big O. Their designs were almost steam punk and I just loved the style of them.

i've heard a lot about the 8th ms team actually so *adds to list of anime to watch*

although its more of a game i also like the armored core series. i think it could make a good anime series.
